Jeremy Renner used to be a make-up artist before he joined Hollywood

As shocking as it sounds, our beloved Marvel actor has recently disclosed that before he joined the world of movies, he actually used to be a make-up artist. Renner’s first acting performance was playing the Scarecrow in a production of The Wizard of Oz. There, he acquired the skills necessary to put on his own theatre makeup, which enabled him to secure a job as a makeup artist at the mall.

Renner recognized, that using Lancôme products to imitate the over-the-top, theatrical paint works he was used to would not bring him any clients or dates but he convinced some women that their everyday makeup was a bit too much.

“I figured I could tone it down and do it on hot girls all day. It wasn’t the case. It ended up being older ladies, which was just fine. You want a guy’s opinion on what looks good versus what you think looks good? That blue eye shadow up to your eyebrows does not. Let me try something else,”

When he was so poor that he had to use candles to light his apartment, Renner told Men’s Health that he taught himself to play the guitar. On Hot Ones, he added that he also frequently went to karaoke clubs during those hard times. His singing voice was so good that he turned down a chance to join a boy band in the 1990s, but when asked by The Guardian, he refused to identify the name of the band.
