Joss Whedon, the filmmaker of the 2012 superhero flick The Avengers, revealed that stunt work in the film really pushed Renner to the brink. He came close to disaster, and his body was utterly exhausted and close to giving up.

The Bourne Legacy movie actor has delivered some of the most iconic performances in movies, one of which includes the 2012 American superhero film The Avengers. He portrayed the beloved character Clint Barton / Hawkeye (A master archer working as an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D.) in the movie and once revealed that he underwent a dramatic transformation for his role claiming that it was a very “physical role.”

In a candid interview, director Joss Whedon praised his incredible stunt proficiency and revealed that his stunts for The Avengers were pretty risky as Renner experienced an on-set accident while filming a stunt sequence.

Whedon claimed that the actor suffered a severe injury while performing a stunt one day, after which his body shut down, and he was in enormous pain. He added that they had to stop filming the sequence and re-shoot it a few weeks later.

“I’m OK with a stunt guy doing it at this point. I’m 52. It’s fine. I’ve done enough. I’m OK to do more, right? But, I’m Ok. I have no ego. Yeah, go for it. I don’t care.”

Jeremy Renner also had a painful accident earlier this year which left him hospitalized for quite some time. He is a prolific actor though he had his fair share of ups and down in his personal and professional life. Renner has proven his acting genius and versatility as an artist by giving back-to-back memorable performances on the silver screen.
