Christopher Nolan has once again brought another spectacular project that has left fans stunned. Oppenheimer follows the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy) who played a key role in the Manhattan Project. Given that everyone put in their best efforts for the movie, it was greatly rewarded with acclaim and accolades.

Murphy starrer film has surged past $960 million globally, breaking numerous box-office records. It has also earned the leading 13 nominations, with the results awaiting to be announced. Since Nolan’s new work has managed to win many hearts, fans are already hoping for the best.

Given that Barbie was released at the same time as the former project, both projects naturally garnered attention, sparking numerous comparisons regarding their respective accomplishments. However, the Margot Robbie starrer movie achieved a humongous win at the box office by hitting $1 billion globally in just 17 days.

Barbenheimer’s Oscar Nominations!

As for Nolan’s work, it has secured a nod in almost every big category including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. Many expect the project to win in categories like Best Score, Best Sound, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography.

Barbie is nominated for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Gosling), and Best Supporting Actress. Meanwhile, Gerwig and lead actress, Margot Robbie failed to land nods despite delivering impeccable work on the project.

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer could cement its name in history if the movie manages to win 8 or more awards on Sunday night. Only 15 movies have ever managed to achieve that feat with the last movie to win 8 Oscars being Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Whereas, Everything Everywhere All At Once attained victory by bagging 7 Oscars last year.

The 96th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles with Jimmy Kimmel returning to host the ceremony.
