The film is yet to have an MPAA rating and following the rumor, two cuts were tested on-screen recently- one aiming for a PG rating while the other wanted PG-13 which is more kids and family-friendly.

Barbie received mostly positive reviews from a limited audience after the screenings. The test run shows that the adventure comedy is a pure entertainer with wonderful performances by the stars. Following the screening, the movie is also dubbed as a “comedic crowd pleaser.”

According to the sources, the crowd is also pleased with the execution of Barbieland- it is colorful, vibrant, and lively marking it as the highlight of the movie. Fans are also pleased with Margot Robbie’s performance saying she’s perfect for the role of Barbie.

The initial reaction from the people say that Gosling deserves an Oscar nomination for the “Ken-ergy” he presents on the screen. His vibes are even worth critics’ awards. Michael Cera’s Alan is also remarkable while Kate McKinnon’s character is neutral in reception by fans- it is a kind of love-and-hate thing. John Cena’s role as the Merman is “flat-out hilarious.”

The Barbie movie is set released on July 21 this year, however, Warner Bros. conducting test runs for early prediction of the movie that has surfaced with positive reviews is a great deal. Most fans who attended the screenings find the movie “an absolute delight that will be an obsessive favorite,” expressed their views on Reddit.

“Despite the overall spiky and over-the-top comedy (There’s even a chase scene!) it remains surprisingly emotional, playfully and blissfully political without being heavy-handed,” one Reddit user said.

“Will win Oscars for Costume and Design,” another Redditor posted. “It deconstructs the feminist iconography of Barbie and recontextualizes her for a new generation.”

The early viewers have revealed that the representation of Barbie is quite nostalgic. The costume design is also a tribute to the original dolls most of the time attempting to bring back the distant memories of those who have at least seen the dolls.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is produced by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, David Heyman, Ynon Kreiz, and Robbie Brenner. Gerwig who co-wrote the screenplay with her romantic partner Noah Bambach has brought her unique vision and childhood nostalgia of many kids to screen. From having the Mattel dolls, fans are now able to see the visualization of their beloved characters and their emotional cinematic journey.

Talking to At Your Service podcast, Gerwig revealed her thoughts on Barbie saying, “It was something that was exciting because it was terrifying.”

“I think that was a big part of it, like: ‘Oh, no, Barbie.’… It felt like vertigo, starting to write it, like: ‘Where do you even begin, and what would be the story?’… Usually that’s where the best stuff is, where you’re like, ‘I am terrified of that.’ Anything where you’re like, ‘This could be a career-ender’ — then you’re like, ‘I should probably do it.'”

Looking at the early screening reaction, it seems her efforts are paid off. Gerwig also appears on the screen for a short while.
