However, fans are still waiting for the return of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. They were part of the tragic sequences in the First Generations storyline, with many even thinking that they had been killed but that is seemingly not the case. Both Naruto and Sasuke had lost a majority of their power and would require the protection of the younger generations.

What happened to Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha in Boruto Part 1?

Given that the Boruto manga is based on the titular character, Naruto and Sasuke are side characters in his story. Their powers have been nerfed and the characters have disappeared from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex so that mangakas Ukyō Kodachi and Masashi Kishimoto can focus on developing the separate arcs of their children.

Naruto Uzumaki lost a massive chunk of his powers during his fight with Isshiki Otsutsuki in Boruto Chapter 55. The ninja activated Baryon Mode to pummel Otsutsuki but the same led to the death of Kurama, who gave him the powers of the Tailed Beast and Six Paths. Fearing that the 7th Hokage’s life is in danger, Kawaki chose to trap Naruto and Hinata in Daikokuten in Chapter 77.

Sasuke Uchiha shared a similar fate. During the ensuing battle between Uzumaki and Isshiki, Sasuke used Rinnegan and it was destroyed by the Otsutsuki, thus making him lose the majority of his powers. He was last seen training Boruto in Episode 293 of Part 1 after having helped Naruto’s true son escape the village when the roles of Kawaki and Boruto were switched.

Fans came to know that Sasuke and Naruto were pursued by Code during the time skip, which was the reason for the scar on Code’s eye in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. That being said, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha may return to the manga soon.

Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are most likely to return in Boruto Part 2: Two Blue Vortex

There is a great deal of mystery as to what happened to the two Shonen protagonists during the time skip. Some claim that Sasuke Uchiha was killed off-screen by Code and that his Kusanagi sword now belongs to Boruto. Meanwhile, Naruto being written off is a hint of what might happen to the beloved 7th Hokage.

On a more positive note, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are expected to return in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. The manga hasn’t yet answered what happened to them during the time skip. Furthermore, Uzumaki being locked inside the Daikokuten, where time and age have no value, means he could have trained for millions of years and gotten incredibly strong. The Hokage could return to stop the fighting between Boruto and Kawaki after gaining mastery of the Baryon Mode.

The fan-favorite Sasuke Uchiha also needs a proper send-off rather than being killed unceremoniously. Despite being weakened, the power of Omnipotence could rejuvenate the Rinnegan powers in Uchiha following which he can take the mission to knock some sense in Kawaki to free his adopted father, who was last seen shedding tears upon the dead body of Boruto in Episode 293 before his son was resuscitated by Momoshiki Otsutsuki.

Boruto is now 100% Otsutsuki due to the full data extraction of Karma by Momoshiki in the final moments of Part 1. It will be interesting to see what follows in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
