A learning father
The 59-year-old recently got candid in an interview with Uproxx, and unraveled about the future expectations from his acting career. Nicolas Cage revealed that he shall quit the movies and resort to TV acting eventually. One may be surprised by Cage’s revelation despite his grand success in Hollywood. However, there is a passionate reason behind this.
Cage also claimed that he is not much of a TV person, that is, he does not watch it. However, his son persisted him to watch Netflix’s Breaking Bad which might have left the $25 million worth star a little too encouraged. He told Uproxx,
“This is a new world for me. I don’t watch TV…My son, he introduced me to the format. I thought, okay, there is something here. But these are… I’m sharing ideas with you as I’m still forming them.”
Speaking of Breaking Bad, he felt the series was magnificent and was inspired enough to move to the TV industry. As Cage said, while his ideas are still in formation he does seem keen on retiring from his film career.
Nicolas Cage is done with the movies
Putting on his adventure hat, Cage wants to explore his acting career in other spheres of entertainment, particularly TV. He shared a surprising insight on his upcoming movies. Had it not been for contractual bindings, the recently released Dream Scenario would have been his last movie. When asked if fans might only get to see another three or four movies from the star, Cage said,
“Well, I’d like to. I would’ve liked to have left on a high note, like Dream Scenario. But I have other contracts that I have to fulfill, so we’ll see what happens.”
With too many mentions of Adios, Cage made it quite clear that he is ready to move on from the film industry. The actor explained he had explored all genres and margins of performance, although only what seems to be left is Broadway and TV. And well, he is leaning towards the latter. More so, finding his muse in Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, Cage is keen on switching formats to diversify his acting career further.
Cage also admitted that it is also his family that influenced this decision. With his father passing away at 75, the star shared that he wants to spend more time with his kids and wife and utilize his remaining years with them as he is soon to turn 60. Fans would not be disappointed if Cage brings his talents to the small screen in the future.
