Light managed to kill Mello, but Nate River caught him along with the police.
Light’s ego is the ultimate fatal flaw that made him lose his life even after coming so close to being a god.
Light Yagami’s End in Death Note
After Light Yagami was caught red-handed, he tried to write Nate River’s name in the Death Note in a desperate attempt. But he was shot multiple times by the cops around him. Seeing him in that state, Ryuk wrote Light’s name in the notebook. Ryuk’s main motive was entertainment. Even though Light entertained him with his wits, after some time, he became predictable. Watching Light wither in pain, Ryuk thought it was not worth his time to see him in prison.
