Jujutsu Kaisen isn’t the most kid-friendly series out there but the show definitely features some wholesome bonds and interactions between its characters. One of the fans’ most favorite interactions is the bond between Itadori and Nanami. However, the recent episode devastated fans as a major character met their demise.
Itadori Yuji and Nanami Kento are quite opposite, so on paper, it would seem very unlikely that these two would get along. Nanami is a strict man who likes to abide by the rules. On the other hand, Itadori is wildly unpredictable and rough around the edges. Despite the sheer contrast in their personalities, both of these characters respect each other. Even though Itadori might not have been able to save Nanami from his untimely death, he saved the ex-salaryman in more than one way, and it was tear-jerking.
Itadori influenced Nanami’s life in unimaginable ways
The latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 left fans weeping as Nanami Kento died in front of his beloved student. Watching this was quite disheartening, and Itadori seemed traumatized because he couldn’t protect his mentor.
It might be an interesting way to look at things, but Itadori helped Nanami in more than one way. He was a radiant beam of light in Nanami’s mundane and monotonous life. He gave Nanami something to believe in and saved him from feeling purposeless.
Nanami finally opened his heart to someone after a long time. He even made his mentor realize that his life was precious and there were people who would care if he died someday.
The bond between Itadori and Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen is precious!
Nanami and Itadori are similar despite their contrasting personalities, as both share empathy as people and as Jujutsu sorcerers.
Nanami shares the same motivation as Itadori, related to people, but his journey follows a different path. He became a salaryman after leaving his position as a Jujutsu sorcerer. However, burdened by the pressure of consistent losses, he decided to resume his life as a sorcerer. Nanami left because of struggling people but came back to help several people who were in need. Nanami doesn’t necessarily enjoy the work he returned to, but saving people gives his life much more meaning than mundane office work.
Nanami also believes taking care of Itadori is his priority as he understands the brutality of life as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. He is also an adult, and it’s his right to protect Itadori. He is one of the characters who understands that despite being Sukuna’s vessel, he is just a child. Itadori is terrified of killing others even though his only wish is to give a proper death to others. He sees his empathy in Itadori and wants to protect him in a way he himself never was.
