Before assuming the role of a leader at Marvel Studios and creating a massive cinematic universe that resonated with Marvel comics fans, Kevin Feige was himself a cinema buff. The Marvel top man loved reading the credits at the end of every film he saw and envisioned seeing his own name among them someday. On various occasions, he has recalled his passion for films and his aspiration to contribute to the process of filmmaking.
However, something changed when he saw the film Day Off, starring Ferris Bueller. Feige noticed something that blew his mind completely: a post-credits scene that featured Matthew Broderick’s lead character briefly reappearing on the screen and asking the audience to go home.

A Post-credit Scene Changed Kevin Feige’s Perspective

Speaking of films that featured a post-credit scenes before Ferris Bueller’s Day Off include Night of the Living Dead, The Muppet Movie, Meatballs, and Airplane!
Feige said (via MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios):
“It was the greatest thing in the world. I thought it was hilarious. It was like a little reward for me for sitting through the credits.”
Similar to cameos from Stan Lee, post-credits scenes became a trademark of the MCU. These scenes have managed to provide fans with excitement about the upcoming films and characters in the MCU. Besides, these scenes also helped Marvel connect one film to another and stitch a closely-knit cinematic universe.
As a result, almost every Marvel enthusiast remains seated until the end of the credits to catch a glimpse of what lies ahead for them in the MCU.
Kevin Feige Called This Film To Be Perfect Superhero Film
Over four decades have passed since the 1978 film Superman, starring Christopher Reeve, came out. The film featured Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, and Marlon Brando as Jor-El. The movie was helmed by Richard Donner, and the film is regarded as one of the best films to embrace the superhero genre.
Akin to many comic-book enthusiasts, Kevin Feige is a huge fan of Donner’s work. Although many fans are fascinated by the rivalry between the MCU and DCU, the producer realizes the significant impact of Donner’s work.
Feige added:
“Was a big fan of Richard Dinner’s movies, including Lethal Weapon, The Goonies, and the most perfect Superman movies’, Superman.”
The first installment of the four-part series set the standards very high for future comic book adaptations. Since its release, Superman has appeared in several TV shows and movies, making a significant impact on filmmakers from different generations. However, not many of them managed to come close to the allure of the 1978n classic.
