As we slowly move closer and closer to the release of Final Fantasy 14‘s fifth expansion, Dawntrail, which releases in the summer of 2024, There is more information being revealed that will get many of the game fans excited, as these updates are long-awaited.
Final Fantasy 14 has been around for over 10 years and has gained a major player base over the years, which is still steadily growing. Due to this, Square Enix has decided that they will improve the game’s graphics in the Dawntrail expansion, and this won’t be the last graphical update either.
What Will be included in the Final Fantasy 14 Graphical Update?
Over the years, Final Fantasy 14 has been receiving a lot more attention from fans of the series and has slowly been getting more and more active. This has led to the decision that the game is not just a standalone title and should be part of the mainline games.
This means that Final Fantasy 14 will need a complete graphical update to bring its graphics up to par with the other games in the franchise. Since this decision has been made, Square Enix has already been hard at work generating updates for different parts of the game for players to view.
Back in July, during the game fan festival, this information was announced with some images that displayed some of the updates that would be coming to the game. As always, these changes were still in development and could change at any moment.
So far, the dev team has already been working hard to improve the textures, lighting, weather effects, and even object density. The main idea behind this graphical update is to improve the overall game experience so that the entire world looks better, not just the smallest details.
How Will this Affect the Game in the future?
Since Final Fantasy 14 is such a big game already, the development team has made it clear that not everything in the game will immediately be affected by this graphical update. Some NPCs will look better than others as they have to enhance each individual character, but they will all get the same treatment eventually.
This is mainly aimed at the early content in the game, as the more current updates, especially Dawntrail, will have the main focus of the graphic update to ensure it releases looking its best.
Unfortunately, with this graphical update, there will be changes to the requirements regarding MAC and PC, as they will need to be stronger to compensate for the better graphics. That being said, these changes will only be minimal, as the graphical update isn’t too major.
For now, though, it is safe to stick with the current setups players may have, as the aim that the developers have is that they do not want people to feel they need a high-end setup to play the game. These requirements could change anytime between now and when the expansion releases, so do not make any decisions just yet regarding your setup.
