Among the upcoming MCU line-up, Daredevil: Born Again is one of the most anticipated projects for the fans. The series is slated to be the longest among all the MCU shows and would feature a more mature side of the universe, infamous for its PG-13 projects. We have been receiving several updates about the project except for two key characters- Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
While many fans hoped that they might have been recast, it will undoubtedly be a controversial move for the studio. There’s also a fair chance that the characters are absent as the show’s coming to Disney+ from Netflix. However, a new theory also suggests that a grim reason might be involved in the disappearances of those characters.
Is Wilson Fisk the reason behind the absence of two major Daredevil: Born Again characters?
Since it was announced that the Charlie Cox show will pave its way from Netflix to Disney+, we have gone through several changes and updates. Even the team for the show was changed midway due to disappointing results. Yet Foggy and Karen were largely absent from any of the updates. A new fan theory has come up that suggests that Vincent D’Onofrio‘s character might be responsible for this.
The theory was provided by a Reddit user named Intelligent_Sail_896 who claimed that the absence of Karen Page and Foggy Nelson might be directly connected to Wilson Fisk and Thanos’s snap. In the Daredevil Season 3 finale, we witnessed a brutal battle between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk following which the latter was warned not to do anything to Murdock’s closest friends.
Matt Murdock promised that he would make sure Fisk’s wife is imprisoned for the murder of Agent Ray Nadeem if Kingpin does anything to Foggy or Karen. According to the theory, Matt Murdock might have been snapped during Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War. But the same didn’t happen with either Karen, Foggy, or Fisk which led to the latter killing Daredevil’s closest allies.
Now as dark as this theory sounds, it can also be a game-changing move for Matt Murdock’s character. It would not only add a mature layer to the Daredevil: Born Again series but also provide an insane motivation to the character giving him a more violent avatar. Some latest reports also suggest that the MCU might add more mature themes to the street-level stories.

Marvel’s reportedly considering the Devil’s Reign storyline for the MCU
New reports suggest that MCU can have a darker tone moving forward. These reports come from a reliable source, The Cosmic Circus, and state that the studio is heading toward the Devil’s Reign storyline in the MCU. This was a memorable comic book arc where Fisk receives the post of Mayor and wreaks havoc on the city by outlawing the superheroes by declaring them vigilantes.
Reportedly, Hawkeye has spearheaded this arc which will be carried forward by Echo, Daredevil: Born Again, and Spider-Man 4. This story arc might also present us with more R-rated and TV-MA projects. However, the reception received by Deadpool 3 and Echo would also be important in deciding the fate of mature Marvel content.
Earlier we have also heard that Blade and Thunderbolts would also be R-rated which gives us hope that Marvel might be finally over the kid-catering stage. Moreover, with the repeated failure of several generic projects, it was also important for the studio to work on major changes within to improve its condition. Looks like we are finally heading that way.
Daredevil: Born Again will start streaming sometime in January 2025.
