In a revelation sparking anticipation, James Wan transformed Aquaman 2’s villain. The acclaimed director, delving into Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, shares insights into Karshon, a character deviating from its comic counterpart.

While Black Manta traditionally opposes Aquaman in comics, the movie introduces another adversary, Karshon, portrayed by Indya Moore, known as the Shark in the source material.

In comics, the Shark, originating from Green Lantern, gained humanoid form and psychic abilities. However, Wan’s Karshon differs; not a shark character, but a political obstacle from the High Council, creating barriers for King Arthur within the Atlantean political landscape.

As per Empire via The Direct, the filmmaker said,

“This Karshon is not a shark character. It’s different [from] the comic books in that sense. One of the things we wanted to do, now that Arthur is king of Atlantis, is to give him barriers within the political world. Karshon comes from the High Council, and is like a political roadblock for Arthur.”

The dynamic shift in Karshon’s character prompted speculation. However, Wan’s revelation leaves room for curiosity: did he truthfully unveil Aquaman 2’s details, or did he employ deception, concealing thrilling fight sequences featuring Jason Momoa?

In the mysterious world of Aquaman 2,  Wan’s revelations prompt a crucial query: truth or deception?  A statement from him initially led us to believe the 44-year-old might not engage in combat with a Shark Man in the film.

However, the latest trailer unequivocally shows Jason Momoa delivering a resounding right hook to Karshon, a character resembling King Shark. A humanoid figure with a shark’s head.

Despite Wan’s earlier remarks that it’s “not a shark character,” the trailer paints a different picture. In Momoa, we place our trust in witnessing Arthur Curry confront a distinctly shark-like character in the newest movie spot.

Preceded by Curry dispatching human adversaries. The spotlight shifts to the peculiar aquatic mutants, alleviating concerns about a mundane sequel.
