Megan Fox and Michael Bay worked together on Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. However, more than a decade after their partnership ended, the controversy surrounding their working relationship has only lessened to a degree and not abated fully. All the controversy began way back when Fox gave an interview where she talked about Bay being a tyrant on the sets of the Transformers films.
However, that didn’t go down well with the director or producer, Steven Spielberg. As a result, it was Fox, whose career was on the line as she was on the verge of getting blacklisted in Hollywood. Even now, in a way, that one incident has been hounding her even though she has clarified what she meant several times.
Megan Fox Referred To Michael Bay As Hitler On Transformers
In an interview with Wonderland Magazine, Megan Fox was asked what was it like to work with the director of the Transformers films, Michael Bay. She had compared him to Hitler and Napolean on the sets but had said that he has an awkward personality off work. Here’s what Fox said:
“God, I really wish I could go loose on this one. He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous madman reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work it. When you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it’s endearing to watch him.”
She concluded by saying, “He’s vulnerable and fragile in real life and then on set he’s a tyrant. Shia and I almost die when we make a Transformers movie.” However, what actually caused trouble for Bay and Fox was an interview where the actress alleged that she washed her director’s Ferrari while getting filmed. In July 2020, The Guardian’s Jason Solomon reported that:
“She (Megan Fox) told me she went to director Michael Bay’s house to audition and he made her wash his Ferrari while he filmed her. She said she didn’t know what had happened to that footage. When I put it to Bay himself, he looked suitably abashed. ‘Er, I don’t know where it is either.'”
Later on, it was speculated that she washed his car while naked. Fox’s statements caused a huge furor in Hollywood back then and she was fired due to it. In a 2011 GQ interview, Michael Bay said, “She was in a different world, on her BlackBerry. You gotta stay focused. And you know, the Hitler thing. Steven [Spielberg] said, ‘Fire her right now.'” About a decade later, Fox clarified her comments on her Instagram.
Megan Fox Clarifies All Rumors About Michael Bay
Megan Fox took to Instagram in 2020 when all the reports as well as more rumors about her experience working with Michael Bay on the two Transformers films went viral on Twitter. She thanked everyone for the support but finally set the record straight about what had actually happened. She clarified that the naked-car-washing audition didn’t happen. Fox said:
“I did ‘work’ (me pretending to know how to hold a wrench) on one of Michael’s [Ferraris] during one of the audition scenes. It was at the Platinum Dunes studio parking lot, there were several other crew members and employees present and I was at no point undressed or anything similar.”
She further said she wasn’t assaulted by Michael Bay or Steven Spielberg. As per Fox, “When it comes to my direct experiences with Michael, and Steven for that matter, I was never assaulted or preyed upon in what I felt was a sexual manner.” Bay then posted the Jennifer’s Body actress’ words on his Instagram with a picture of her from her Transformers audition. He said:
“This is a still from her Audition taping 13 years ago. No. She is not washing a car nor in a bikini like the press has falsely said for many years. I personally think Megan is fantastic. I’m proud to have worked with her, and still am planning on working with her.”
It looks like Fox’s Instagram post did help calm down the viral rumors. However, they didn’t completely end Nowadays, the actress is busy with The Offering and The Expendables 4. As for Michael Bay, he is developing an untitled Bounty Hunter drama for Amazon Prime. So both of them have moved on with their lives.
