When its creators started working on Minecraft, they initially named it Cave Game. This was an early version of this game and consisted of only cobblestone and grass.

It did not even have most of the features that the final game had. This barebones version only allowed the players to explore, and was never released to the public.

Minecraft was created in just six days

Designer Markus Persson is a masterful game designer; there’s no doubt about this, but who could have known that he was so good that he designed this highly complicated title in a mere six days? Of course, its first version, Cave Game, was not feature-complete, but from coming up with an idea to laying the initial bricks of this massive structure in just six days, was just massive.

This goes to prove that Markus Persson deserves all the appreciation he gets.

One of its creepiest characters was not even part of the plan

Everyone knows how scary a creeper can be. Numerous videos and memes about it are evidence of the popularity a creeper enjoys. But it was not even in the game intentionally; it was a legitimate coding error.

The developer was instead working on a pig. But some miscalculations with its height and length led to what fans now know as the creeper.

Ghasts has a very unusual voice actor

Massive AAA games have voice actions, motion capture suits, and foley artists. The job of a Foley artist is pretty unique and very important; they give everything in the game a proper sound. Those tapping boots, the running train, and the rain falling on a sheet of metal most sound is given by the Foley artist.

But Minecraft is a relatively low-budget game; that’s why they had to come up with unconventional ways to make their stuff sound. That’s why, when music producer Daniel Rosenfeld’s cat was awakened from sleep all of a sudden, he recorded it and used it as the sound that Ghasts make. Yes, those dangerous fire-breathing monsters are voiced by a cat!

A very unique character

Minecraft’s main character Steve

The creator of Minecraft is no doubt very special. The guy made one of the most successful sandbox games ever in six days; of course, he is unique and special. And he knows it too, and that’s why this billionaire gave his in-game avatar a special ability.

When his character dies in the game, it drops an apple. It’s a very small detail, but a very interesting one indeed.
