Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are finally coming together for Deadpool 3. Fans have been clamoring for the possibility of Wolverine and Deadpool coming together for years. Although they got a sense of their fun chemistry in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the two characters are co-leading the upcoming threequel and present their camaraderie in all its glory.
The two actors and their characters have become synonymous with one another. They have earned a lot of fans and income over the years owing to the huge success of the films they have participated in. However, Jackman and Reynolds have differing earnings for their respective solo films.
How Much Did Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds Earn for Their Solo Superhero Films?
Ryan Reynolds first made his appearance as Wade Wilson in Hugh Jackman‘s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Since then, he has gone on to lead his own solo films, 2016’s Deadpool and 2018’s Deadpool 2. Jackman’s Wolverine has led his own trilogy with 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 2013’s The Wolverine and 2017s’ Logan.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Reynolds earned about $22 million for his first film, which became a huge commercial success, grossing $782 million at the box office. His pay increased in Deadpool 2, where he received anywhere between $30 to $40 million. He currently has a net worth of $350 million.
On the other hand, Hugh Jackman earned $20 million each for both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine. He has a net worth of $100 million (via Celebrity Net Worth). In comparison, Reynolds has an edge over how much his pay went up in his second film compared to Jackman.
While Jackman received the same amount as his first solo film for The Wolverine. Reynolds’ pay went up by around 10-15 million for Deadpool 2. With the third installment coming soon, both actors are expected to be paid handsomely once again. However, Reynolds is most likely to get a greater share as it’s his franchise and is essentially the main lead of the film.
Director Shawn Levy Is Not Allowed to Say Anything About Deadpool 3
Deadpool 3 starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is slowly inching closer to its release date, and fans are clamoring for any bit of information about the film’s plot and characters. The director of the film, Shawn Levy, was recently at the DGA awards, where he was asked whether he could reveal anything about the film.
Levy told Deadline that he cherishes his friendship with Reynolds and joked that he would murder him if he said anything about the film. Levy also revealed that he and Reynolds are teaming up once again for their fourth film titled Boy Band. He said,
“I so cherish my friendship with Ryan Reynolds and it would be so sad if it ended in murder. And if I answered you with anything Deadpool related, it would end with my untimely death, and that would be so sad. We love working together, we feel like we get each other, we make each other better. Boy Band is one of the few movies we’re talking about for our future collaborations.”
The first look/ teaser of the film is expected to premiere at the Super Bowl. In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the film will also see the return of Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Karan Soni, and Stefan Kapičić. Emma Corrin will play the main antagonist of the film. Deadpool 3 will be released in theatres on July 26, 2024.
