According to a recent Linkedin Job posting, Viktor Antonov the art director of Half-Life 2 and Dishonoured appears to be making a new FPS, souls-like game. The now-since-removed post for a “studio lead level designer” job was doing the rounds on social media before being abruptly removed from the site.

The job posting itself came from Eschatology Entertainment, a company that is headed by CEO Fuad Kuliev, with Viktor Antonov as the Visual Director. Eschatology Entertainment looks to have been working on this new game since at least 2021 from the LinkedIn pages of employees such as Lead Level Designer Konstantin Ryzhov. However, according to its website, Eschatology was only founded in 2022, which is a weird discrepancy. Regardless, the latest post and game details from the company website have whipped fans into a frenzy online.

According to Eschatology:

Our first game tells the story of a gunslinger who tries to make sense of who he is as he journeys through a world enveloped in hellfire and on the verge of destruction”.

On the website, the game is also tagged with terms such as AAA, Apocalyptic West, FPS and Souls-Like. Antonov is a veteran Art Director in the videogame space bringing some of the most iconic dystopian environments in gaming history with his work on Half-Life 2 and Dishonoured. Hopefully this means that the final product Eschatology Entertainment is developing will be as suitably grim and original as some of Antonov’s previous work, while applying his signature look to an Old West setting.

Eschatology’s website is also filled with clues as to what the tone of their untitled first game will be about. With quotes from authors such as Neil Gaiman and Thomas Merton to literal Bible passages, Eschatology’s first game seems to already be leaning the dark and dreary tone that fits with Antonov’s previous work. Even the definition of the company name relates to the idea of rebirth and resurrection, a common theme in souls-like games.

So far online fan reactions have been mixed. In a Reddit post from r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, several users have already made their opinions about a new souls-like game known. With user Groundbreaking_Sail5 commenting: “Meh another souls game” and Barantis-Firamuur writing: “I’m so sick of everyone copying that same crappy gameplay style”.

Although there has been a fair share of negative comments regarding the game’s genre, some fans are also just happy to see Antonov working on a new title. With Reddit user Zorklis stating: “His Art design is always superb so this will be interesting to hear more from them”.

Unfortunately there are no new details regarding, this upcoming title that Viktor Antonov is working on, other than it is currently in development. As this is an ongoing story follow @FandomWire on social media for all the latest gaming updates and news!
