Mulan is the epitome of girl power. She is one of the most celebrated female characters for defying gender norms and breaking the stigma around women warriors. Reddit user AsianHoosier said, “She was strong and willing to sacrifice her comfortable life to protect her family.”
Indeed, she was, and the fact that she did not give any second thoughts is what makes her truly a hero. Mulan demonstrated what a true Disney princess should embody: strong, smart, and savvy.
Mufasa (The Lion King)
The Lion King is one of Disney’s most distinguished and re-watched movies of all time. The heartwarming tale of family, friendship, and fate continues to rivet generations of viewers. Esmeralda (The Hunchback Of Notre-Dame)
Many would be surprised to see Esmeralda on the list, but The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is such an underrated film. Her story is as unique as her background; she is a gypsy who is shunned by the public and is constantly treated as an outcast. Redditor Shadow_strife said that Esmeralda is “compassionate, beautiful, heroic and artistically talented” and we couldn’t agree more!
She dealt with all of these discriminations against her with only kindness in her heart. Esmeralda is proud of her ethnicity and is never afraid to stand up for what she believes is right.
Olaf (Frozen)
The musical numbers in Frozen are truly fantastic, but they are not the only reason the movie became a box office hit. All of the characters are lovable, relatable, and flawed at the same time.
While everyone chooses between Elsa and Anna, Reddit fan broe17 chooses Olaf. “I personally love Olaf, always has the right (hilarious) thing to say.” There is no doubt Olaf provides comedic relief in the movie.
Genie (Aladdin)
Everyone would wish to have a friend like Genie. Who doesn’t if he can grant three wishes, anyway? Reddit user younggpa said, “Genie, no question. Ever had a friend like him?”
Certainly, Genie’s character is oozing with so much warmth, love, and support. He’s the kind of friend who will hype you up when you feel down.
