Disney has perfectly utilized its intellectual property rights of animated original films by developing live-action remakes over the years, from The Little Mermaid to Beauty and the Beast and Pinnochio. Likewise, rumors have surfaced that one of Disney’s greatest blockbusters, Frozen, is scheduled for a live-action reprise.

However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation by Disney, nor have been teased by any of the Frozen crew. Yet, fans have cast Barbie star Margot Robbie in the lead role, Elsa, while Kristen Bell portrayed her resilient sister Anna in a fan trailer shared on social media. While Robbie may seem fit for playing the raging ice queen, there exists a better recommendation, an Academy Award-winning actress, for fitting into Anna’s shoes.

Disney officially confirmed that a Moana live-action movie is “in the works” with Moana star Dwayne Johnson announcing the news in a YouTube video shared by Walt Disney Studios in April 2023. The 2016 animated film was released three years after Frozen. Yet, Disney has decided to proceed with Moana’s live-action adaptation.

This doesn’t seem like a positive hint for the possibility of a Frozen live adaptation ever being made, but we still don’t know. Other Disney live-action remakes include The Jungle Book and The Lion King but the studios may have turned a blind eye to the snowy fantasy franchise which earned Disney an Academy Award and well, a billion dollars.

On top of that, two viral fan-made trailers of a live-action Frozen surfaced recently. Darth Trailer shared one that featured Margot Robbie as Elsa, and Kristen Bell reprising as Anna. The compilation assembled from scenes from other movies like Once Upon A Time and The Huntsman: Winter’s War amassed a million views. Despite the overwhelming response from the fans to the fake trailer, Disney Studios hasn’t made a comment.

Not Kristen Bell, Anna fits perfectly for a Spider-Man actress

If you’re thinking Zendaya, Disney might have to race-swap the character. But going with the compelling rumors, Emma Stone would best embody Anna’s essence. To think of it, Stone convincingly resembles Elsa’s daring yet graceful sister even in physical characteristics. With the Cruella actress’s versatile background, who also won two Golden Globes recently, Disney and fans cannot find a better real-life Anna than Stone.

Moreover, Robbie’s great bond with Stone weighs in on the great opportunity for the actresses to finally share a screen together. Another fan-made trailer that fueled the rumors of Frozen’s live-action adaptation was shared by Screen Culture. Also made from scenes of Once Upon A Time, here Elizabeth Lail was presented as Anna while Robbie maintained her queen status.

Will Frozen get a live-action remake? It’s hard to say for now but Disney certainly has an eye out for the fans’ demand.
