Deadpool 3 is all set to bring about the reunion of two fan favorite X-Men characters – Deadpool and Wolverine. The movie began filming in May 2023 but faced delays because of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, resuming once the strikes concluded in November 2023. Since then, many pictures have surfaced from the set of the movie – some from the cast and crew themselves, while others got leaked.
From seeing Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in their respective suites to seeing Deadpool moving around with the decapitated head of Sabretooth, fans have gotten a couple sneak-peaks from the upcoming movie. But with all these pictures, there is one thing that fans are speculating about the movie. And if it does go that way, then it’s quite the possibility that Deadpool 3 might bring about the end of the whole ‘Fox’ X-Men universe.

Deadpool 3 Might Bring About the End of the Fox-verse
Since the X-Men and other characters that were under the Fox umbrella became part of the MCU, Marvel Studios are slowly but surely trying to assimilate these characters into their continuity. So far, we have seen Professor X in Doctor Strange 2, and Kamala Khan was introduced as the first mutant in the MCU at the end of the Disney+ show, Ms. Marvel.
Before this, the MCU was very cautious with the term mutant, as they did not own the rights to these characters. But after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, things became easier for the parent company. And now fans are anticipating the reveal of all their fan favorite mutants in the MCU. But there is a catch here.

A popular fan theory suggests that Deadpool 3 might end the ‘Fox’ X-Men universe completely so that the characters can have a fresh start in the MCU. The set photos from the Ryan Reynolds starrer suggest a gruesome end for many characters we have seen so far in the mutant-verse. Along with Sabretooth, whose decapitated head was already shown in the photos, many other characters may also face their end in Deadpool 3.
A Multiversal War Is On the Horizon
A multiversal incursion is quite the possibility for the storyline that Deadpool 3 may adapt. We already know Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine is back, but there has also been chatter about characters like the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, and Elektra being part of the movie. And though the studio, or the cast members, are yet to confirm any of this, it is likely that these characters will be brought in, only to wipe them from the current continuity, that is already a little spread out.
We already have the MCU, and then there is the Fox universe storyline with all the mutants. To bring it all into one single continuity, Marvel might need to do some deep cleaning- meaning some characters might need to go for good. Many fans are speculating that Deadpool 3 will follow the Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe comic storyline. So it is likely that even if the MCU does not quite adapt the exact story from the comics, it might bring in bits and pieces where Deadpool and Wolverine are faced with an incursion in their universe, and they escape it amid a slaughterfest involving all the Fox characters.

In one of the set photos that was revealed to the fans, we can see a destroyed 20th Century Fox logo in the background of a Deadpool and Wolverine battle. A motif to tease the end of the Fox-verse, maybe? A multiversal incursion might bring about all the characters from the past, and Deadpool might take the help of Wolverine to escape this event and bring himself (and hopefully Wolverine, and few other characters) to a stable universe, before Avengers 5 and 6 stories can bring about more chaos.
Deadpool 3 is set to release on 26th July, 2024.
