Later on, proposing to Dewan in 2008, the duo tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed their first daughter in 2013. But sadly, their marriage didn’t last long as the couple parted ways in 2018.

The Hollywood stud, Channing Tatum, who is popularly known for his appearances in dance movies, shared the screen with Jenna Dewan in 2006 hit Step Up. From there onwards, with the right moves and undeniable chemistry, Tatum and Dewan started giving on-and-off hints about their affection for each other.
After speaking with PEOPLE in 2006 and expressing his desire to be with “someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously and can be a goofball”, Channing Tatum surprised Jenna Dewan with a Hawaiian proposal. Popping the question in front of close friends, in September 2008, Tatum made Dewan “freaking happy” during their vacation.
Thereafter, the Step Up duo tied the knot on July 11, 2009, in Malibu, California. Claiming to be “as happy as I possibly can be on the planet right now”, the 21 Jump Street star shared his feelings with PEOPLE, following their wedding. Shortly after, the newlywed couple went on their honeymoon in Bali and celebrated their union by getting matching tattoos.

Claiming to have a “just about perfect” relationship with Jenna Dewan, the duo became dog parents in 2010 and later welcomed their first daughter, Everly Tatum, in 2013. However, within four years of having their first child, the couple began experiencing a crack in their relationship based on parenting difficulties, which eventually led to their divorce in 2018.

Photographed together for the last time, in Los Angeles, at the November 2017 premiere of Channing Tatum’s film War Dog: A Soldier’s Best Friend, the couple parted their ways in 2018. After enjoying their togetherness for a decade, Tatum and Dewan announced their split on April 2, 2018, following nearly nine years of marriage.
“We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.” the couple told via PEOPLE.
In October 2018, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum filed for divorce after six months of split, citing irreconcilable differences. Asking for joint custody of their daughter, followed by Dewan seeking spousal support, Tatum and Dewan were eventually declared legally single by a Los Angeles judge in 2019.
Later on, during an interview with Vanity Fair in 2023, Channing Tatum revealed what actually went wrong between him and Jenna Dewan. “In the beginning, it was super scary and terrifying… This whole plan that you had literally turns into sand and goes through your fingers.” Tatum noted. Later explaining how fundamental differences in parenting led to their divorce, Tatum expressed his grief.
“When you’re parents, you really understand [the] differences between the two of you. Because it is screaming at you all day long. How you parent differently, how you look at the world, how you go through the world.”
