Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness released its second trailer that left fans dazzled with its grim, intense atmosphere enveloped in Sam Raimi’s iconic horror thematic visuals. Widely expected to be the next biggest crossover event, fans are waiting with bated breath for the movie to reveal all its secrets. With under three months left for the movie to hit theaters, Doctor Strange 2 has finally amped up its promotion with the second trailer, TV spot, and poster. As Stephen Strange buckles up to face the horrors of the multiverse, numerous familiar faces are expected to return in some form or the other. Interestingly, a few fans have stated that the second trailer included a fan-favorite character from the comics who is yet to mark his debut in the MCU in a blink-and-miss scene.

The second trailer of Doctor Strange 2 marked the return of Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) from the first movie. Additionally, Xochitl Gomez also makes her appearance as America Chavez, the interdimensional hopping ally to Stephen Strange. However, what stood out the most was the return of Sir Patrick Stewart, most probably as Charles Xavier/Professor X. The trailer also hinted at the first appearance of the Illuminati, and subsequently the additional members of the secret society. Apart from this, a few eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that Nova might have finally debuted in the trailer. Check out the enlarged image:

Richard Rider aka Nova is one of the fan-favorite characters from the comics who has been long overdue for his appearance on the big screen. First rumored to appear in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios might be including the character in the Multiverse of Madness as Gunn doesn’t seem quite keen on including Nova in his movie. As a member of the intergalactic police force Nova Corps, Richard Rider aka Nova’s appearance earlier seemed inevitable in Guardians of the Galaxy. While it might be some time before we get Nova to join forces with the Guardians, Doctor Strange 2 can very well include the superhero in its multiverse spanning plotline.

Interestingly, the scene from the trailer has also attracted some debate among fans regarding the veracity of Nova’s appearance. While a faction is quite convinced that it is Monica Rambeau’s alternate Captain Marvel, others are convinced that the character is actually Iron Man from an alternate dimension. With Tom Cruise being heavily linked to make a cameo as Superior Iron Man, only time will reveal the truth within the madness.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
