The Disney Plus miniseries Echo follows Maya Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox as she escapes the chase from Wilson Fisk a.k.a Kingpin by going back to her native town of Tamaha, Oklahoma. Moving away from her tenure as the commander of Fisk’s Tracksuit Mafia, Lopez tries to connect with her ancestral roots in her hometown.

After his clash with Echo at the end of the series, Fisk goes back to New York and orders his assistants to rally the ‘remaining heads’ to stabilize the situation, still reeling in from Echo’s attacks on his empire. The post-credits scene shows Wilson Fisk interested in the mayoral race and implies that he would be interested in stepping into the race. Though Fisk has never been politically inclined and has always portrayed himself as a businessman in search of power since Netflix’s Daredevil, the time may have finally come for the Kingpin to rule the city and put him in direct contact with Matt Murdoch again.

After Echo, Vincent D’Onforio’s Wilson Fisk and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil are set to clash in the upcoming Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again. The show was commissioned for an eighteen-episode first season before undergoing a creative overhaul by Marvel president Kevin Feige. However, it had been rumored by The Cosmic Circus that the show would be following a classic comic book storyline.

The mayoral race storyline is shown in the classic comic storyline of Daredevil called ‘Devil’s Reign’, in which Wilson Fisk runs for mayor and wins the elections. He then outlaws all vigilantism and superheroes in New York City and arrests Reed Richards, Moon Knight, and Iron Fist.

The storyline then sees Murdoch become the Acting Mayor after Kingpin is put into a coma by The Hand. The Hand was introduced in season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil and the new series would be the perfect way to include him as an antagonist in the MCU. The creative overhaul of the show caused concern among fans that there would be a change in the plot.

However, it has been reported that the replaced directors, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead of Loki, would still be using some footage from already filmed scenes of the show. The Cosmic Circus also stated that Marvel was looking at exploring the ‘Devil’s Reign’ and ‘Gang Wars’ storyline through the shows Hawkeye, Echo, and Daredevil: Born Again, which would lead to Spider-Man 4.
