Basic Instinct actress Sharon Stone recently revealed an uncomfortable situation that occurred while filming the 1993 movie Sliver. According to Stone, the film’s producer, the late Robert Evans, allegedly pressured her into having a personal relationship with her co-star Billy Baldwin and sleeping with him.
Stone claims this suggestion was made to improve on-screen chemistry. However, she felt the request was inappropriate and unprofessional. She even reportedly offered alternative solutions, proposing the casting of a different actor altogether. She also said that Evans called her into his office to put more pressure on her.
Meanwhile, Billy Baldwin has publicly refuted all these. The 61-year-old actor expressed his frustration and disapproval towards Stone’s claims.
Sharon Stone Claimed Robert Evans Pressured Her to Have S*x with Her Co-star Billy Baldwin
Actress Sharon Stone publicly shared an encounter from the set of the 1993 film Sliver. In a recent podcast interview, Stone disclosed that it was producer Robert Evans who urged her to get involved in a s*xual relationship with her co-star, Billy Baldwin, during the filming.
Stone recalled being called to Evans’ office, where he tried to persuade her to sleep with Baldwin, citing the need to enhance his performance for the film. “He called me to his office. He had these very low ’70s, ’80s couches, so I’m essentially sitting on the floor, when I should have been on set,” Sharon said on the Louis Theroux podcast.
“And he’s running around his office in sunglasses explaining to me that he slept with Ava Gardner and I should sleep with Billy Baldwin, because if I slept with Billy Baldwin, Billy Baldwin’s performance would get better, and we needed Billy to get better in the movie because that was the problem.”
Stone firmly rejected the suggestion and expressed her belief that a different co-star choice wouldn’t have necessitated such an encounter.
“I didn’t have to f–k Michael Douglas,” she said. “Michael could come to work and know how to hit those marks, and do that line, and rehearse and show up.”
Stone claims that Evans justified his request by asserting that it would improve the chemistry between her and Baldwin on screen. Sharon added,
“The real problem with the movie was me because I was so uptight, and so not like a real actress who could just f–k him and get things back on track. The real problem was I was such a tight arse.”
The actress had previously documented the incident in her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, though she had not disclosed the identities of Evans or Baldwin at the time.
Billy Baldwin’s Reply To Sharon Stone’s Claim
Following Sharon Stone’s revelation, Billy Baldwin took to X, formerly Twitter, to clap back at her claim. Baldwin rather said that it was Stone who made the move.
“Not sure why Sharon Stone keep talking about me all these years later? Does she still have a crush on me or is she still hurt after all these years because I shunned her advances?” he wrote.
Baldwin also threatened Stone by saying:
“I have so much dirt on her it would make her head spin but I’ve kept quiet,” he said.
“Wonder if I should write a book and tell the many, many disturbing, kinky, and unprofessional tales about Sharon?” Baldwin continued.
“That might be fun.”
Stone was the one who has been vocal about the pay gap in Hollywood. In 2015, she said:
“After Basic Instinct, no one wanted to pay me,” she said. “I remember sitting in my kitchen with my manager and just crying and saying: ‘I’m not going to work until I get paid’. I still got paid so much less than any men.” (Via The Guardian)
