When Tom Holland was introduced as Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War (2016), not many fans were convinced the slender Englishman was good enough to portray a character with such a huge legacy.

However, Holland took little time in winning over the hearts of Marvel fans and has since led three stand-alone movies on the Web-Head. In particular, his Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) shattered box office records, grossing $1.922 billion globally. Accordingly, the tides have turned and these days fans can’t wait for an update on the fourth Spider-Man installment, which has already attracted plenty of fan theories.

What Fan Theories Are Speculating About Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4

Apart from Tom Holland‘s brilliant performance, what made Spider-Man: No Way Home special was how well it approached the collaboration between Spider-Mans (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) of different franchises. After the web-slinger approaches Doctor Strange to find a solution for his unmasked identity, he’s forced to face some unwanted guests from different universes.

The movie that now stands as the third highest-grossing MCU film of all time opened the floodgates for endless possibilities, intensifying the expectations for the makers of Spider-Man 4. In case you missed it, it’s already been announced that there indeed will be another Spider-Man movie with Holland as the lead.

Among the many theories that fans are pushing on social media, the introduction of Felicia Hardy (Black Cat) is the most popular. After Spider-Man broke up with Mary Jane in the comics, he dated Felicia until Amazing Spider-Man #31. It is yet to be confirmed if Zendaya (Michelle Jones) will return opposite Holland.

Another prevailing theory is the return of Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes/Vulture, who was defeated by Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Based on these theories, some fans expect the movie to perform similarly to Spider-Man: No Way Home at the box office. However, other fans have shown restraint.

Interestingly, while talking to MTV News‘ Josh Horowitz, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige suggested Spider-Man is going into the street-level heroes. In all likelihood, this means it will be a smaller-scale project.

Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool 3, which is scheduled to hit the theaters in the first half of 2024, will be centered around the TVA “picking up the prime versions of each hero to create a multiversal army to fight the Kangs,” as per insider MyTimeToShineHello.

As such, expect some big-name superheroes, including Spider-Man to join hands with Wade Wilson to take on the Kangs. During the same discussion, the insider insisted that the ‘prime’ version of Web-Head is Holland and not Maguire or Garfield.
