Zack Snyder’s Justice League Director’s Cut has a pretty interesting backstory to it. Zack Snyder was all up for bringing the Joker-Batman crossover to his universe as it would feel incomplete to finish his DC legacy without it. Of course, the iconic duo has been celebrated over the years on many occasions and Snyder decided to bring them in in his last feature at the studio. “I added it because this was going to be the last movie,” Snyder told The New York Times in an interview.

“I make for the DCU and to have this entire cinematic universe without Batman and Joker meeting up just felt weird. Jared [Leto] and I had a bunch of conversations about it. I had mentioned it to Ben and I was like, Ben, let’s just do it at my house. I could shoot it in the backyard. Don’t tell the studio and I’m not going to pay you guys. I’m just going to shoot it myself,” he added.

Fortunately for Snyder, it worked out and the studio favored his idea. “What happened is it worked out and we were able to do it for real,” the director continued. Later, he called the cast members and asked if they were willing to do it, and they sure did.

Snyder left the fans on a cliffhanger with the ending of his last DC movie. Many expected another installment to his Snyderverse but it never happened. Confirming the fact that the scene was a teaser for another movie, Snyder candidly acknowledged that the “ask was for my version of the movie.” But it never happened and it’s unlikely to happen in the future considering the current DC scenario. But Snyder has his version of what could happen in the movie. “It’s the fall of Earth, when Superman succumbs to anti-life,” Snyder explained it to NY Times.

“And then sending Flash back in time to change one element so that doesn’t happen. And then the big battle where we beat him. When [the villain] Darkseid comes to Earth, in the movie that you’ll never see, the armies of Earth all unite again, as they did before. This time there would be aircraft carriers and Special Forces guys, all the armies of the world would come together.”

Also, Atlanteans “rising out of the ocean and the Themyscirans coming off their island,” he continued. That was supposed to be the big finale, the director said. “But it’s a long drum roll and guitar solo to get there,” he added. The grand Snyder DC finale would be a huge crossover and certainly, it would incorporate the essence of the narratives of all Snyder movies in DC.
