Sam Mowry voiced a large number of characters across video games and television and the tributes are pouring in. From fans he came across to video game developers he worked with, everyone is paying respect to the legendary voice actor.

Mowry was 64 years old and passed away on July 20th due to cardiac arrest while he was being prepared for an emergency surgery. The surgery was for severe blockages in his arteries at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Oregon.

This is according to a post from Oregon Artswatch. Mowry’s wife Cindy McGean also shared the news of his demise on Facebook. She wrote, “For those who do not know, my beloved Sam died this morning. Find each other and share stories and hugs and maybe a glass of whiskey or some bacon.”

League of Legends developer Riot Games in also remembered. “For the voice of a Darkin, Sam was a bastion of light. It was an honor to work with him and he will live on as a part of Runeterra forever,” Riot tweeted.

Fans were left in shock to hear this. Players of DOTA 2 and League of Legends, a couple of the many games in which Mowry voiced characters paid tribute to him on social media.

Not only games, but Mowry also was very much involved in theatre and participated regularly in radio plays. A large number of fans on social media across Twitter and Reddit recalled their favorite dialogues by Mowry and remembered him.

Mowry’s deep and powerful voice that would make anyone sit and listen is known to almost every gamer. The actor was the dark voice of Rhaast, one-half of the Shadow Reaper Kayn. He also featured in the first DOTA 2 trailer in 2011 which brought more players to the game.

Mowry voiced Anti-Mage, Beastmaster, Necrophos, Clockwerk, Warlock, Slardar, and the Shopkeeper in The Lab mini-game including Secret Shop in the cutscenes. Overall, he also in over 30 video games, including titles like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, inFamous, Pyramis, and 9 Monkeys of Shaolin.
