Dragon Ball games in general were not the best in the past generation; very few titles were genuinely good. One particular title was amazing: Dragon Ball FighterZ from Arc System Works. This game was first released in 2018 and brought Dragon Ball to a 2D fighting style.
Almost 6 years later, the game keeps launching content with new fighters and more. But this title had the honor of being played by the creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama. He even made a public comment about Dragon Ball FighterZ, before his unfortunate passing earlier this month.
Dragon Ball FighterZ was a very good game according to Akira Toriyama
After many games that were not so good or even popular among fans, Dragon Ball needed some kind of re-invention regarding gaming. The creators of Guilty Gear, Arc System Works, chose to make a new and incredible game based on Dragon Ball. In 2018, Dragon Ball FighterZ was launched.
Fans and critics loved the game and praised the originality of the mechanics as well as the art style introduced, making Dragon Ball go back to a 2D fighting style. The title has an 87 on Metacritic.
This game was so well received that even the creator of Dragon Ball itself praised all things regarding Dragon Ball FighterZ. A little before the official release of the game, Akira Toriyama said,

Fans are worried about some Bandai Namco decisions
There are many rumors regarding how Bandai Namco is managing the budgets of upcoming games. Fans are worried about this company cutting the budget from the studio in charge of Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, Spike Chunsoft.
This will be revealed when the title is released, and fans will know whether their worries were well founded or not. The rumors are pointing out that this is not the first time Bandai Namco has done this, but fans are begging the publisher to do right by Akira Toriyama, even more so after his death – a tribute, if you will.
Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero will be released between 2024 and 2025; there is no confirmation about this. The title will have more than 120 playable characters, scenarios, and destruction as for the clothes. Bandai Namco is anticipating that this will be one of the best games of Dragon Ball in years.
