The only character that had the guts to steal the spotlight from Goku and Vegeta was the former’s son, Gohan. In Dragon Ball Z, during the Cell Games, he established himself as the strongest Saiyan at that point and single-handedly defeated Cell. Since then, a lot has changed. The most recent anime that ventured into the life of the Saiyans was Dragon Ball Super, which abruptly halted in 2017.
Since then, the manga has been progressing at its pace with no return of the anime. The latest movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, brought back nostalgia when fans got to see Gohan back in action like the old times. After the movie was released, it was adapted into the manga. To everyone’s astonishment, an extra panel was added to the manga after the movie. The additional panel fixed up one of the recurring problems in the franchise, especially for Gohan.
Gohan’s Character Got Redemption in the Latest Chapter
Dragon Ball Super Chapter 100 featured the end of the Super Hero movie but with an extra panel. The extra panel showcased Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, and Gotens returning home in Bulma’s aircraft. While Bulma was flying the aircraft, Gohan picked up his daughter, Pan, who was asleep. He noticed that Pan had grown up a lot since the last time he properly paid attention to her. He also promised to be more involved with her life and take her out to the amusement park more often.
It was a great character development for Gohan, considering he was becoming more like his father, Son Goku. Son Goku was so focused on his training that he often neglected Gohan and left him with Chi Chi. Just like him, Gohan was becoming too busy with his research and hardly had any time for his family. This panel redeemed his character and set him on the right path.
While Goku wanted Gohan to become a powerful Saiyan warrior, Chi Chi wanted Gohan to focus on his studies and become educated. Even though Gohan became a powerful Saiyan warrior, fulfilling his mother’s wish made him weaker in the long run. When Frieza returned to Dragon Ball Super, he was not much of a use, even though he once hailed as the strongest Saiyan. But in the end, it is good to see Gohan fulfilling his parents’ wish and turning into a family guy.
More on Dragon Ball Super
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie finally sheds some light on Gohan’s and Piccolo’s progress. After years of focusing on Goku and Vegeta and giving them one form after another, the anime gave Gohan and Piccolo the limelight they deserved. Piccolo’s new transformation, Orange Piccolo, was a surprise to everyone. On the other hand, Gohan’s Beast Mode made the fans revisit the old days.
After Beast Mode, it was officially confirmed that Gohan is the strongest character of the franchise at the current stage. These two, along with Goten and Trunks, defeated Cell Max to rescue Pan. Due to Gohan neglecting Pan with his research, Piccolo had to look after her like he used to do with Gohan. It was creating a bad impression and bad parenting on Gohan’s part. So, Piccolo faked Pan’s kidnapping to bring Gohan to the right path.
Unfortunately, the kidnapping led to a whole new saga with Cell Max. But everything turned out okay, with Gohan finding Pan and redeeming himself. Currently the strongest Saiyan, it will be interesting to see how Gohan’s character develops in the future of Dragon Ball Super.
