In 2024, loyal Dragon Ball fans are in for a treat with a new anime series coming this fall and the highly anticipated game, Sparking! ZERO is set to be released within the next year. The celebration doesn’t stop there though, as teasers have dropped for the upcoming DLC for another fan-favorite game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, building excitement for its imminent release.
Titled Goku’s Next Journey, the DLC is set to launch within the month and features Uub as a leading character. Packed with tons of new story content, fights, and more, fans of the long-standing series are sure to be busy with the new content before the release of Sparking! ZERO.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s New DLC Showcases the Next Leg of Goku’s Journey
Named after the final episode of the Dragon Ball Z anime, the DLC introduces Uub and explores his first meeting and subsequent relationship with Goku.

As mentioned earlier, the game features a plethora of new fights to experience. Fans can finally experience the thrills of fighting against Goten as Goku (Blue Gi), which was teased on the official Dragon Ball Games X account earlier this month.
It seems like someone has been training hard.

In 2022, Kakarot was announced to get a free next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, along with three DLCs. After the release of Bardock: Alone Against Fate on January 2023 and The 23rd World Tournament on August 2023, the release of Goku’s Next Journey in February 2024 will mark the third and final set of DLCs to be released, as promised by Bandai Namco.
Fans are speculating that Goku’s Next Journey might serve as the game’s concluding piece of content, drawing parallels with the final episode of the anime series that shares its title. While some enthusiasts hope for additional Dragon Ball Super content as future DLCs, these assumptions appear more wishful thinking than grounded speculation.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO could not come at a better time
While the end of Kakarot may be near, fans of the beloved series can still anticipate the arrival of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. The game has drawn up quite a stir, with each new teaser sending shockwaves of excitement through the community.
A definitive release date is yet to be announced, but according to an interview from earlier this month, it seems likely to hit the gaming scene in late 2024 or early 2025.
The game will put a new spin on the gameplay of the franchise’s Budokai Tenkaichi games, originally released on the PSP in 2010. However, a popular feature from the game—local split screen—will not be adapted, owing to issues with Sony and Microsoft.
Fans still have much to look forward to. The game boasts a killer roster jam-packed with fan-favorite characters and their fusions, among other exciting features. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
Even though you might be looking at a year-long wait till the new game, fear not. Dragon Ball DAIMA, a brand new TV series and the fifth anime installment of the franchise will be airing for all to see in Fall 2024. Featuring a completely original story, the creator Akira Toriyama had this to say about it:
“I came up with the story and settings, as well as a lot of the designs. I’m actually putting a lot more into this than usual! Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world. Hope you all enjoy these different-from-usual battles that are cute and powerful!!”
