Dragon Ball FighterZ dropped just yesterday on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, and the developers later released an update. However, they asked gamers to hold off on downloading the free content. Fans were quick to point out similar issues with DBZ: Kakarot, which took weeks to be fixed properly.

The developers of the highly-anticipated title, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, recently released a free upgrade for another title, Dragon Ball: FighterZ. It was meant to give players on PlayStation and Xbox consoles a free 4K graphics update, but soon after going live for users to download, a warning was sent out for both consoles.

On PlayStation consoles, PS Plus subscribers were not able to download or launch the game. The developers posted an acknowledgment message stating the issue was being looked into. On the other hand, the upgrade was said to be “not functioning as expected” on the Xbox consoles.

This has further forced gamers to be concerned about Sparking! Zero‘s stability on the Xbox. The post on X received replies from gamers comparing the issue with what happened with DBZ: Kakarot around January last year.

Back then, the problem with the game caused a delayed release of DBZ: Kakarot – Bardock – Alone Against Fate and the game’s Season Pass. Unsurprisingly, the replies back then were a lot similar to what gamers have been replying to the present situation regarding the issues with FighterZ.

Fans Fume Over Messy Update Being Launched

One of the replies to the post by the developers stated the update should not have been released in the first place, while another user mentioned the DLC characters were missing after having installed the upgrade. This issue was mentioned by several others as well, a lot of them asking for a way to downgrade the version after losing the DLC characters.

The problem seems to have hit PlayStation gamers as well, and several users have asked the developers why characters show up on the PS Store with an option to purchase, despite having owned them before the upgrade. A few others were lucky enough not to have hit download, having replied stating they would wait for the issues to be resolved before applying the upgrade.

Xbox gamers will now hope similar issues don’t crop up with Sparking! Zero whenever the game gets released. The title is a long time coming, and fans are happy to wait for as long as necessary for a launch without any major glitches.
