For many of us, it is impossible to imagine a world without Akira Toriyama. The legendary manga artist has not only created some of the finest manga works, including Dragon Ball but has also had an incredible impact on the creative world as a whole. But after his saddened passing, the anime world seems to have come to a standstill.
As numerous fans from across the world mourn his sudden demise, one of his many creations, Dragon Ball Super has been forced into hiatus.
Dragon Ball Super Fans Suffer Another Setback As Manga Goes On Hiatus
The official Dragon Ball site, on 8 March 2024 announced the saddened passing of Akira Toriyama. Aged 68, Toriyama’s contribution to the world of manga and anime will always remain legendary. While his legacy will continue to inspire generations of manga artists, and his beloved characters and stories will forever live on in the hearts of his fans, many have been anxious about how his creations will be handled moving forward.
One of his more legendary creations, the Japanese manga series, Dragon Ball Super has been put on an indefinite hiatus. Closely linked with the series news and affairs, x user @DBsHype, revealed how the series will go on hiatus starting the next issue (103).
However, the user also added in the comments that it is not clear whether it will be the regular 1-month break the series takes after the completion of an arc or if it will be indefinite. Amidst the lack of any further updates, fans will just have to wait till next month’s VJump to find out more.
Since Toriyama’s passing is still fresh and the notice on the official site mentioned he was working on many creations, it is plausible that the series might have been put on hold due to ongoing discussions among the leadership.
Fans Show Support To Toyotaro Amidst Dragon Ball Super Hiatus Announcement
Dragon Ball Super will not be what it is without the contributions of Toyotaro, the series illustrator. Having worked on several memorable Dragon Ball series and features, the illustrator has become a fan-favorite. As work continues for the upcoming issues of the series, it is expected that Toyotaro will take over Dragon Ball Super (see MeriStation).
And now as the X user @DBsHype announced the manga’s hiatus, fans poured support for Toyotaro, urging him to take his time,
After what happened with Toriyama, Toyotaro deserves to rest. Some forget that he is also human. After this break, I'm sure he will come back very refreshed ^^
