In a recent auction hosted by Sotheby, which is one of the biggest brokers of collectibles and decorative jewelry in the world, the ring that Hip-Hop legend Tupac Shakur wore during his final performance on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996 before his assassination in the same year was put for sale to the highest bidder. This auction was hosted in honor of the birth of the Hip-Hop music culture on its 50th anniversary.

The sale was stated to put the ring for bidding and was expected to be worth $200,000 when it would exchange hands from the auction to the bidder. But to everyone’s shock and surprise, the Hotline Bling singer went on and single-handedly won the bids and bought the iconic piece of jewelry for a whopping $1 Million, paying five times more to own the ring that one of the greatest Rap artists adorned on his finger before his untimely demise. Later, the Canadian artist also posted a story on his Instagram page highlighting his latest purchase.

Apart from being an important part of history, the ring itself was crafted from precious stones like diamonds and rubies on top of being made of gold. Along with that, Tupac himself was the one who helped in the designing of the jewelry, which makes it that much more special and valuable.
