One Piece is one of the few anime and manga series where the difference between good and bad has never been clearly explained. The majority of pirates have been portrayed as good and morally right characters, while most of the Marines (who are supposed to be the protectors) are often portrayed as characters who go down the wrong path.

However, among those Marines, Aokiji Kuzan is the one who has confused One Piece fans the most. While some of his deeds make him look like he has a good conscience, others make fans think that he might have gone over the edge. But his recent endeavors have confirmed that he might have joined the devil’s side forever.

Ever since the time skip happened, Kuzan has been rolling with the Blackbeard Pirates as their tenth captain, and some fans find it unacceptable. Therefore, there is a chance that Eiichiro Oda might have to sacrifice Kuzan in order to retain his image as a morally just Marine.

One Piece Fans Are Having A Hard Time Believing Kuzan’s Character

Ever since Kuzan joined the Blackbeard Pirates, his actions have forced the One Piece fans to doubt his character and even his former actions. Not only has he helped in the kidnapping of Pudding, but he also brutally defeated Monkey D. Garp when the Vice Admiral attacked Blackbeard’s island to save Koby.

Thus, fans have been questioning his actions since the beginning of One Piece. Reddit user u/OPsays1312 shared a post where Kuzan’s questionable actions before the time skip were discussed, and they painted Kuzan as the bad guy.

The steps he took, especially during the Water 7 arc, were dubious and uncertain and they did not help anyone at all.

He not only informed Spandem about the Straw Hat Pirates (specifically Robin) heading towards Water 7, but he also gave him the golden den den mushi that is often used to summon a Buster call. Thus, fans have been tilting toward believing that Aokiji Kuzan might be a bad guy after all.

Eiichiro Oda Might Have to Take a Difficult Step With Kuzan

Although there is literal evidence of Aokiji Kuzan being the negative character, he is the follower of justice, and he has always been portrayed as a morally conflicted character. He might have committed some heinous actions, but he has a right heart, which means something within the One Piece world.

Therefore, there is a chance that Eiichiro Oda might have to use Kuzan as a sacrifice during the conclusion of One Piece. This would not only help Oda create a great narrative but also help Kuzan prove himself as a good guy. Plus, saving Luffy and the Straw Hat would be the best way Kuzan can insult the World Government.

While this sounds like a great plotline, it would also mean that Kuzan might be acting as a spy within the Blackbeard Pirates, and when the time is right, he might play a major role in taking down one of the worst pirate crews in the history of One Piece.
