Recently, directors Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve sat down and interviewed each other about their work, especially for Dune: Part Two (via YouTube). Nolan had high praise for the film comparing it to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Villeneuve was extremely happy with his compliment and talked about it in an interview with GamesRadar+.

Villeneuve stated that Nolan comparing his film with something as groundbreaking as The Empire Strikes Back was a huge honor as it is his favorite Star Wars film. He also claimed that such immense praise coming from a maverick director like Nolan was a big moment for him. He said,

“It’s a comparison that I would have never dared to do myself. I think it’s a beautiful compliment because Empire Strikes Back is by far my favorite Star Wars movie. So, it’s like, coming from Chris [Nolan], an incredible compliment.”

Villeneuve has started writing the third part which will be Dune: Messiah. However, he has expressed his intention to take some time off of the Dune universe a do something smaller for his next film. It remains to be seen what Villeneuve ends up directing next. Fans can watch the first Dune on Max and experience Dune: Part Two in theatres.
