Dune: Awakening is an upcoming MMORPG from Funcom, and fans of the franchise will be able to trek to the dangerous desert planet of Arrakis. The video game promises a great deal of freedom, and one way to do so is by allowing players to create their avatars and select mentors.
Each mentor that is presented before a player has a unique set of skills and abilities that others do not possess and players should take the time to think this through. Making the character creation process an already difficult challenge before setting foot on Arrakis.
Mentors Can Make or Break a Player’s Dune: Awakening Experience
Early previews have shown the extensive options that the developers are offering to players as they enter the in-game character creator feature. The feature is so accurate that players can perfectly recreate themselves in the game and even the likeness of real-life celebrities like the actors from the live-action films. However, a choice has to be made, and it can define a player’s Arrakis journey depending on which mentor they select.

It would be prudent for players to look up or read up on the certain skills that each mentor has to offer that best suit their personality and playstyle. This ambitious project has the potential to be the greatest video game adaptation, especially with the shared assets used in the live-action film counterpart, and the perfect distraction until director Denis Villeneuve is ready to work on the third and final sequel.
Choosing the wrong mentor could be inconsequential, but it is worth knowing the variety of skills that are available to pick from. Players will have to select one of the four mentors through a dialogue response-type scenario, and the choice will dictate how well a player’s journey will turn out.
Dune: Awakening Will Allow Players to Be the Author of Their Story
Fans of the franchise are about to see Arrakis through a different pair of lenses and in a much more immersive and detailed manner compared to the films. The developers also promised that the desert landscape will be constantly changed after each week, which will elevate the stakes even more.
Arrakis is not a place for the faint of heart, and players can take on a series of odd jobs and choose which faction to join in later parts of the game. It will be fascinating to see how the gaming community can take ownership of their unique journeys and take on and ascend through the ranks of being a lowly citizen to a powerful figure on the planet.
Coming off the heels of the universally praised and successful live-action films, the pressure is on the developers to deliver an equally great experience but in a much more immersive way and to encourage players to explore every square inch of the desert and use these skills accordingly.
