Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Dune: Part One is the first of the two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. The movie stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson and more. The story follows Paul Atreides as his family known as House Atreides is forced into a war for the deadly and inhospitable planet known as Arrakis.


Part One was released in September 2021 and upon its release, the movie received critical acclaim, especially for Villeneuve’s direction, visuals, screenplay, and more. The critics and the audience for being faithful to the source material also appreciated the movie. Part 2 is set for release on March 1st but ahead of its release, Part One was re-released and its collection has stunned everyone.

Ahead of the release of Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part One starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, and more was re-released in several countries. The re-released movie which reportedly has a sneak peek for Dune: Part Two has managed to gross over $30 million worldwide.


The additional box office collection for Dune: Part One brings the total collection of the movie to $433 million. According to reports by Collider, the re-released movie has grossed more than 2024 Academy Award contenders The Holdovers and American Fiction’s domestic run.

This move from Warner Bros. can be seen as a smart and calculative move to hype the release of Dune: Part Two which is scheduled for March release. It should be noted that Part One is streaming for FREE on HBO Max but fans mentioned that since it has been hyped that the movie feels and looks way better in IMAX, they were excited to have that experience.

Part Two had its world premiere at Leicester Square in London on February 15th, 2024, and has received positive comments. It is one of the most highly awaited movies of 2024 and is projected to gross $65 million during the opening weekend.

Another user explained that their friend who has already seen Dune: Part Two has described the sequel as ‘one of the best sequels they have ever seen’ adding that the anticipation of the movie’s release is killing them. A third user pointed out that doing these numbers on a re-release of a movie that is over two years old is simply ‘insane’.



Fans have called Dune: Part One ‘top-class’ with others adding that the visuals & cinematography of the movie are worth a re-watch on the big screen. A user shared that they watched Dune: Part One for the first time last week and they have watched it like six times since and started reading the book as well. They shared that the movie is phenomenal. A lot of comments were also about how they cannot wait for the release of Part Two which was the entire motive of the studios to re-release Part One.
