One of the highlights of director Denis Villeneuve’s epic space opera Dune was the A-list star cast that it attracted. From yesteryear legends such as Christopher Walken to present-day stars like Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, the film had someone from different generations playing important roles.

Based on Frank Herbert’s novel series, Dune follows Chalamet’s Paul Attreides as he navigates his destiny as the Chosen One on the desert planet of Arrakis. He is hunted by the evil Harkonnens after a coup orchestrated by Emperor Shaddam IV renders him and his mother exiled after his father, the Duke, is assassinated.

The second part of the film continues the mother-son duo’s life in the desert among the native Fremen and how Atreides becomes a messiah for the people. While Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Josh Brolin reprise their roles from the original, new cast members such as Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux, and Christopher Walken were added to the sequel.

Despite the huge star cast and the epic scale of the project, the makers seemed to have kept a well-guarded secret until recently. The Queen’s Gambit and The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy was revealed to be playing Paul Atreides’ sister in the sequel. The actress reportedly showed up at the London premiere of the film, confirming rumors about her involvement.

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy reportedly walked the red carpet at the London premiere of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, confirming rumors that she was part of the film. While much of the press was aware of the actress’ involvement after they witnessed a screening of the film, none of them had revealed it as the review embargo had not been lifted yet.

However, Taylor-Joy’s appearance in a Dune-inspired attire leaked the news to the general public. According to IndieWire, the actress’ filmography on Letteboxd also included the film, leading to the rumors being confirmed. Director Denis Villeneuve mentioned to Entertainment Weekly that he tried his best to keep the casting a secret until release.

“It required so much work to keep that secret. Everybody signed with their blood.”

Anya Taylor-Joy, however, mentioned that the film was one of the best films and it was a great experience to work on it. The actress said that she was honored to be joining the cast and that it was a dream come true. She said,
