Dwayne Johnson and Roman Reigns boast a legacy-enduring WWE stint. While Johnson is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time and has enjoyed worldwide fame and stardom for his Hollywood outings, The Head of The Table is on a record-breaking reign as the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion.
A long-awaited showdown between the eminent figures—who happen to be real-life, albeit non-biological, cousins—is also being touted for the upcoming WrestleMania 40, the news of which has sparked earth-shattering tremors in the WWE universe.
However, amid the contrasting responses from the fan community, a recent statistic based on the top-selling t-shirts on the official WWE Shop suggests that arguably two of the biggest draws in the pro-wrestling world have been out-triumphed by other faces. Among them, at the very top, is Cody Rhodes, the two-time back-to-back Men’s Royal Rumble winner, who was initially expected to be the one slated to duke it out with Reigns.
His Claim Your Kingdom — Men’s t-shirt has outsold even the notable pro-wrestling legends in this February 7th list.
As #WeWantCody Trends, Cody Rhodes Triumphs Over Dwayne Johnson And Roman Reigns In T-Shirt Sales
According to a February 7th statistic posted by Wrestle Features on X, among the top best-selling t-shirts on WWE shop, Cody Rhodes‘ Claim Your Kingdom (Men’s) triumphed over the likes of The Rock’s The People’s Champ and Roman Reigns‘ Levels Above. Not only that, it has done so by a wide margin.
This development has occurred amid the #WeWantCody movement gaining momentum and making rounds across the internet after the 38-year-old professional wrestler decided to concede his WrestleMania 40 spot (to face off against Roman Reigns) at last week’s SmackDown, handing it over to Dwayne Johnson/The Rock.
As per the list posted by Wrestle Features, which depicts the shocking statistics currently reflecting on WWE shop‘s merchandise top-sellers (in this case, specific to t-shirts), Rhodes has not only taken first place, but other variants of his tees can be seen occupying different spaces in the top 10 which you can see below:
- Cody Rhodes (Claim Your Kingdom Pharaoh, Men’s)
- Cody Rhodes (Claim Your Kingdom Pharaoh, Women’s)
- Cody Rhodes (Claim Your Kingdom Pharaoh, Youth)
- Drew McIntyre (Peace Sign Pose)
- CM Punk (Return)
- CM Punk (2011 Classic)
- Jey Uso (Yeet)
- Cody Rhodes (Camo Skull)
- Cody Rhodes (Original Claim Your Kingdom)
- The Rock (The People’s Champ)
As you can see, Dwayne Johnson‘s The People’s Champ t-shirt has snagged the 10th spot. And, as for Roman Reigns, the official website displays his Levels Above t-shirt in 13th place, and that, too, is right below Jimmy Uso’s No Yeet and CM Punk’s Hell Froze Over. As for Rhodes, he has captured five spaces in the top 10.
Drew McIntyre’s Tombstone/Peace Sign t-shirt, which features a tombstone that says “CM Punk’s WrestleMania main event 2024-2024” and shows McIntyre posing with a peace sign, comes in at number four. Following him is CM Punk, who has positioned himself at the 5th and 6th place. Also taking space at #7 in the top 10, above The Rock (which led to many fans making a joke out of it), is Jey Uso’s Yeet t-shirt.
Amid the controversy surrounding Dwayne Johnson’s WWE return ahead of WrestleMania 40, fans have taken to X to react to the t-shirt top-sellers and Rhodes taking the #1 spot.
Fans React To Cody Rhodes Taking The #1 Spot In WWE Shop’s Top-Selling T-Shirts
With Cody Rhodes’ fans previously convinced of a WrestleMania 40 face-off between him and The Tribal Chief, the development that occurred with Dwayne Johnson’s appearance at last week’s SmackDown has caused a widespread uproar.
We saw Rhodes at the blue brand announcing that he’ll not be locking horns with Reigns at the upcoming flagship event of the Stamford-based promotion. “I am coming for you, Roman Reigns, but not at WrestleMania,” said The American Nightmare, suggesting to the audience that there’s still time before he gets to finish his story—despite securing the chance after winning the 2024 Royal Rumble.
In lieu of the star, The Rock seemingly took over and is slated to face off against Roman Reigns.
Since then, speculations, conjectures, and accusations have prevailed in the WWE universe. Tension has also increased between Rhodes’ and Johnson’s fandoms. This competitive spirit has been embodied by constant comparisons on who deserves the WrestleMania 40 main event spot more.
The recent t-shirt top-sellers report hasn’t helped the case. Following are some of the fans’ reactions:

In this particular case, Dwayne Johnson/The Rock seems to be facing the weight of the circumstances. As you can see above, some users have also highlighted how Jey Uso, a notable part of the Anoa’i wrestling bloodline and cousin to the Jumanji alum, triumphed over the Hollywood star.
However, it is essential to remember that the figure making rounds today is only relevant at the current time, is specific to t-shirts only, and is not indicative of the overall merch sales. As for the widely-lamented WrestleMania 40 showdown, no official announcement has yet been issued. People have wondered if a potential swerve is underway, especially after the extensive backlash.
Only time will tell what happens.
The WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Event in Las Vegas on Thursday, February 8th, is eagerly anticipated by many as it could alleviate those lingering uncertainties.
