Dwayne Johnson has had a memorable career in Hollywood, as he worked in some of the most iconic films that have left a lasting impression on the minds of the viewers. However, before turning into a full-time actor, Johnson was a wrestler for WWF (later WWE), who made his debut in 2001. Eventually, he became one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, and his name alone got the wrestling fans jumping with excitement.
The Black Adam actor went by the alias of The Rock and has etched an indelible mark in the history of WWE, as he is considered to be one of the most charismatic wrestlers of all time. He has won the WWE Championship for a total of 10 times. Although Dwayne Johnson has won the title 10 times, none of his reigns come close to his cousin, Roman Reigns.
Dwayne Johnson’s Longest Championship Reign Looks Like Peanuts in Front of Roman Reigns’ Reign
Dwayne Johnson is often considered to be one of the most entertaining wrestlers of all time, from entertaining promos to some of the most thrilling matches in his prime. The People’s Champion rose to stardom during the Attitude Era of WWE, with popular catchphrases “boots to a**es,” or “Just bring it.” Many fans consider him to be the best wrestler of all time because he has won the WWE title a total of 10 times. However, his longest championship reign was for 118 days, which is nothing when put in front of The Head of the Table.
After returning to the WWE at the SummerSlam PPV event in 2020, Roman Reigns became a heel for the first time. His return was followed by a beat down to Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman after their match in the same PPV event. Alongside his new manager, Paul Heyman, he challenged “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, and Braun Stroman for the Universal Champion in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat Match. The Tribal Chief defeated the reigning champion and won the title for the 2nd time in his career.
The current undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns has demolished every opponent he has faced and at 1238 days, he has become the 4th longest reigning champion in all of WWE’s history. And following his current form, it looks like it would only be a matter of time before he claims the 3rd spot, toppling Hulk Hogan, who has a reign of 1,474 days.
Fans React To Roman Reigns’ Historic Title Reign
Acknowledge him! For some, it is all about putting in the effort but for Roman Reigns it’s just another day as The Head of the Table. Ever since he made his WWE debut alongside, his SHIELD members, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins, he has gone on to create the reputation of a juggernaut, who will never turn away from bringing the fight. Whether it’s about finishing his opponents with a Superman Punch or giving a devastating Spear, Reigns is your man of choice.
Roman Reigns has surpassed his cousin, Dwayne Johnson in terms of title reign, and has cemented himself as one of the greatest wrestlers ever to step foot in the ring. In a Twitter post by Wrestle Ops (@WrestleOps), it stated how Roman Reigns has surpassed Bruno Sammartino’s 2nd longest reign and now holds the hold the 4th longest World Championship reign in WWE history.

In order to reach 3rd & surpass Hulk Hogan’s reign of 1,474 days, Reigns will need to hold it till mid-September 2024. pic.twitter.com/wEDRr8IoYh

Fans reacted to his historic reign as it invited mixed reactions from them.
I have mixed feelings about this honestly. On the one hand, I love the storyline and Roman Reigns. Yet, at some point, we need some closure to said storyline.

I think 4th longest is good enough.

There is a better than average chance WWE says “fuck it, we aren’t going to have an opportunity again in our lifetime to take hogans spot.. let’s just do it”

Unfortunately, people are going to get sick and tired seeing Roman being champion this long.

I will stop watching WWE if he retains at WM40 ..

While fans are not too excited about watching Roman Reigns overtake Hulk Hogan as the 3rd longest reigning champion, there’s no denying the fact that Roman Reigns’ heel face and The Head of The Table arc is one of the best WWE storylines of all time.
