Dwayne Johnson starred in the lead role of Jack Bruno, who is a Las Vegas cab driver and a former convict. Carla Gugino took the role of Dr. Alex Friedman, a discredited astrophysicist, who was fired from her university. She became Jack’s love interest.
2010 thriller Faster, saw them teaming up again, where they played the role of Jimmy Cullen/Driver, a small-time criminal who avenges his brother’s death, and Detective Cicero, a police detective who works with Detective Slade Humphries. The duo delivered a gripping performance in this high-octane revenge thriller.
But it was their reunion in the disaster epic San Andreas (2015) that truly cemented their cinematic bond. In this adrenaline-fueled flick, Johnson plays a rescue pilot battling a devastating earthquake, while Gugino portrays his estranged wife. The film grossed $474 million worldwide.
