Dwayne Johnson is one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood at this time. Having starred in a plethora of iconic movies, the actor has created quite a status for himself as one of the elites in Hollywood.
Despite having impressive movies, the actor’s most successful movie in the last 4 years was a DC movie. Starring in the role of Teth Adam in DC’s Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson’s 2022 movie remains his most successful movie in the last 4 years but people know how the story goes!
Dwayne Johnson’s Most Successful Movie In 4 Years Was Still A Failure!
Having a plan to star in the role of Black Adam for almost 15 years, The Rock poured blood, sweat, and tears, to say the least, into making this movie. With the transition of Zack Snyder’s DCEU into James Gunn’s DCU, Johnson’s Black Adam was somewhere stuck in the middle.
Although the 2022 film had a solid marketing campaign with The Rock promoting his character everywhere, something was amiss. The 2022 film ended up earning an amount of $393 million at the global box office against an estimated budget of $195 million. On the other hand, his 2021 film Jungle Cruise earned $220 million at the global box office while Red Notice (which was released on Netflix) earned $0.17 million globally.
Although the profit is impressive, the global box office felt very low compared to how the film was marketed around the world. Black Adam, however, remains Dwayne Johnson’s most successful movie in 4 years as the cinemagoers did see the movie but complained that the film felt underwhelming. Having earned millions of dollars, the 2022 film can be stated as a commercial success but it also stood as a massive failure with average ratings to its name.
Dwayne Johnson Addressed Social Media Toxicity
Sitting down for a chat with Joe Rogan on The Joe Rogan Experience, The Rock talked about how there is just too much noise and chaos on social media. Stating that people chime in about everything, Dwayne Johnson could have been referring to the hatred surrounding Black Adam!
“There’s so much f*cking noise, so much bullsh*t, so much toxicity. So, it’s just out there all the time and you’re right. It’s that kind of balancing and training gives you the leg up to swap the bullshi* away.”
Joe Rogan continued the talk,
“The bullsh*t today is fascinating because it’s social media bullsh*t, it’s a different bullsh*t than people have ever experienced in all of human history. These people that you don’t know chiming in about everything.”
Perhaps it was just regular talk or perhaps the two seemed to talk about how certain a movie received a lot of negative reactions on social media. Whatever the case, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam received a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDB and a record low of 38% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The 2022 film is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
