The desperation to finally experience Elden Ring‘s upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is beyond endurance as we near its release every day. While the date for when the DLC will be unveiled remains unknown, clues from the publishing studio, such as an update to Elden Ring’s YouTube playlist, indicate that day is not far.
It comes as no surprise that FromSoftware would want to gatekeep every piece of information about this DLC as much as they can. Nonetheless, this fact has not stopped them from speculating and figuring out just how much more they have to wait for the extension pack to finally come out.
The game’s playlist made by Bandai Namco, Elden Ring’s publishing studio, on YouTube was recently updated for their American channel. This has made fans even more sure of their theory for when the DLC will be released, and it is not far from now.
Why Was Elden Ring’s YouTube Playlist Updated?
For now, it remains an utter mystery why Elden Ring’s playlist was updated on Bandai Namco’s America YouTube channel 4 days ago, i.e. 18th January. Since the number of released videos has remained the same, it is clear that a private video has been added to the playlist, a feature made available by YouTube.
It is also easy to notice how Elden Ring’s playlist was updated on Bandai Namco’s Asian channel 5 days ago, as well as Europe’s channel on 4th January. Nobody knows for now what private video was added to these channels, however, many fans theorize it might be the trailer for the long-anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Fans were easily able to catch this update to Elden Ring’s playlist as it had been a year since the playlist was updated, making it unnatural for it to update out of nowhere. Moreover, it also perfectly matches the timeline fans have theorized for the DLC to come out on.
When Will Elden Ring’s Shadow of the ErdTree Come Out?
A great number of fans have guessed that Elden Ring’s extension pack will come out towards the end of February. Many factors have been considered while coming up with this time frame, and fans believe that it might be true this time around.
One of the reasons players believe Shadow of the Erdtree DLC just might be around the corner is also because Elden Ring’s store page was recently updated on Steam’s backend, adding an unknown file. This file, called “Unknown App2778580“, was the first file to be added to Elden Ring’s downloadable section after 15 long months, and is allegedly the file for the upcoming DLC.

Of course, the biggest factor that has been considered while coming up with this timeframe was the game’s second anniversary. It will be celebrated on February 25th, giving FromSoftware the perfect opportunity to deliver to fans the DLC they have been longing for.
