With Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC being finally announced for 21st June 2024, fans have been extremely excited ever since FromSoftware decided to release the recent gameplay trailer of the DLC.
Furthermore, along with the building excitement, players have also come up with theories that speculate the extension’s events. One such theory, as pointed out by a Reddit User, states how the Land of Shadow is more like a mirrored map setting of The Lands Between, instead of being an independent-level design.
What Indicates At The Land Of Shadow Being A Mirror Dimension In Elden Ring
The aforementioned user brought attention to the fact that the branches of the Shadow Tree featured in the gameplay trailer are not branches, but roots of the Erdtree from the main game. This would essentially mean how the Land of Shadow is flipped upside down and is mirrored to The Lands Between.
They further speculated how this would be the reason why there is a golden tinge hue that shines behind the Shadow Tree along with the few golden branches in the center of the tree. This could mean that the tree is radiating the same golden energy that the Erdtree used to give.
To finish off, the user mentioned how the tree seems to be not attached to the ground and is connected to the void behind it instead. While it remains speculation, it would not be surprising to see Hidetaka Miyazaki going out of his way and introducing such a plot twist to the storyline.
