Elden Ring is possibly FromSoftware’s most successful game of all time, the amount of content, story, combat variety, and a whole lot more is coming through the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC that is coming this June which gave fans hope to interact with Malenia. Fans are invested in the mythos and lore that director Hidetaka Miyazaki and author George R. R. Martin created and have high hopes for another showdown with the omnipotent foe.
Small interactions between characters are more than enough to keep fans excited and satisfied, especially if they are executed perfectly and benefit the story. Films and television series use this technique to build up hype and anticipation for the inevitable union or interaction between certain characters.
Fans Are Hoping Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Will Give Malenia The Dark Souls Treatment
In Dark Souls, Sif was a character and a mandatory boss fight that features a cut scene, but if players choose to spare her before clearing all of Darkroot and then facing her last then the game will instead show an alternate cutscene.
I am PRAYING the DLC allows us to interact with Malenia, even if it’s just a cutscene change like Dark Souls did with Sif

Moments like these will resonate with fans more as they will acknowledge their previous activities and more lore that will pique their interests even more. The beauty of expansions and added content post-launch is that the developers can expound an idea that couldn’t be done in the base game, like the exclusion of Messmer.
Downloadable story content will allow the creators to flesh out the story in a far more detailed method than it deserves, and enhance the story of the base game. Elden Ring will be complimented greatly through story beats that will be tackled in Shadow of the Erdtree.
Shadow Of The Erdtree Will Be FromSoftware’s Largest Expansion
Interactions can be the cherry on top of most projects that have compelling characters. Fans are looking forward to seeing the possible changes for the cutscene if they choose to do a certain activity that can affect the outcome of the next time they face Malenia. It is also a testament to how the developers have planned and created alternative cutscenes that make sense with the activities of the players.
FromSoftware has mastered the perfect formula that will blend insane combat systems and difficulty with a balanced and compelling narrative. They have done it in their previous projects like the Dark Souls trilogy where it all felt cohesive in a way. Great developers know when to reflect and integrate their older ideas into new ones and this will be evident since Shadow of the Erdtree will feature a gameplay mechanic that was previously introduced in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
The lore of Elden Ring is rich enough that the team could potentially spawn countless spinoff titles or DLCs in the future that will focus on specific characters or pieces of mythology that will reward fans with a great and fun experience and a treat of rare character interactions which they may see with Malenia this June.
