Hundreds of thousands of gamers around the world are eagerly waiting for the much anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, which was announced last year. Players hope the extension will bring a lot more content to the game, as well as answers to some questions many have been waiting to solve for long.

Fans of the game have come up with theories of what the DLC might entail, with many speculating how it will revolve around the character of Miquella, as hinted by the key art released alongside the announcement.

It is speculated that the character seen in the key art is Miquella, as suggested by the golden braided hair which matches the description of Miquella. The key art also features what seems to be a burned-down Erdtree after the events of Elden Ring, but an insane theory suggests otherwise.

Do The Events Of Elden Ring Happen Inside Of Miquella’s Dream?

Out of the many wild theories that the players have conjured while waiting for the DLC to release, one of them states how the journey of our character as a tarnished conquering The Lands Between was nothing but a dream of Miquella.

It further states how the extension will feature us interacting with Miquella’s cocoon to wake him up from his dream, transferring us with him to the real Lands Between. This place is where the Erdtree is overtaken by Deathblight and the land is covered with wheat, as seen in the key art.

Fans also predict that Godwyn the Golden, the first child of Queen Marika and Godfrey, will play a huge role in the DLC. It is a known fact that Miquella and Godwyn were companions, and it should not be a surprise if we get to see the return of the Prince of Death.

What We Know About Miquella Already

Miquella is an empyrean born to Queen Marika and Radagon, who were both just halves of one single entity. He is the twin brother to Malenia, and both of them were born afflicted with curses. Miquella was born with the curse of eternal youth, while Malenia had the curse of Scarlet Rot.

It is quite easy to notice how the twins are very close to each other, with Malenia even assigning her life to protect her twin brother, calling herself the blade of Miquella. Miquella has also attempted to cure his own and his sister’s curse, and when the Golden Order came to no avail, he abandoned fundamentalism and went on to create the Haligtree, where he would supposedly rest and get rid of his eternal youth.

It is important to mention how everything remains speculation until Shadow of the Erdtree DLC finally releases. However, knowing Hidetaka Miyazaki, as well as FromSoftware games, one should assume there can be a twist that would change how we look at Elden Ring‘s storyline forever.

Elden Ring is available to play on Steam.
