The anticipation is growing as we approach the release of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC every single day. Millions of players around the globe have been on the edge of their seats ever since the announcement of the extension last year, with some even coming up with speculations on what is going to happen in it.

The most popular theory states that we will see the story of the DLC revolve around the character of Miquella, who is very likely to come back and claim the powers of the greater will for himself in order to cure his, and his sister’s curse.

Is Miquella Going To Be The Final Boss In Elden Ring’s Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC?

In true Hidetaka Miyazaki fashion, it will not be surprising if we see sudden immense changes to the storyline of the game as we know it. This has been observed before in his previous games, where a DLC can change the perspective of the whole storyline.

It is rumored that Miquella is going to be the final boss of the upcoming DLC, as hinted by the only piece of key art released by FromSoftware. It was released along with the announcement nearly a year ago and featured Miquella sitting on a steed looking towards a burnt-down Erdtree.

Bearing in mind that he is the twin brother of none other than Malenia, it seems to be highly likely that we will face him in a battle in the upcoming DLC. There is a lot of hype and mystery around this particular character, which is probably why he will be the final boss in the coming extension. It is also highly likely we will see a 3 phase boss fight, as seen before in Dark Souls 3 DLC.

What Do We Know About Miquella Already?

As mentioned before, he is the twin brother of Malenia, the hardest boss in the game. He is an empyrean and the son of none other than Queen Marika and Radagon. Miquella was unfortunately born with the curse of eternal youth, something which he wanted to defy, causing him to make Haligtree, an imitation of the Erdtree.

It is predicted that the events of the game were all planned out by him, and he would now finally come out of his cocoon so he can make the journey back to the now-open Erdtree and claim the powers of the Elden Ring for himself. This would allow him to possibly cure himself as well as his sister’s curse of Scarlet Rot.

The exact release for the coming DLC remains unknown for now. However, fans have predicted it should be released in late February, when Elden Ring will be celebrating its second release anniversary.
