Lords of the Fallen was a title that received mixed reviews; while it was appreciated for offering two playable worlds that felt distinct, it didn’t meet the expectations that were set by it. The title’s performance-related issues did not help its case, either.
It was released in 2023, but its latest update will make the game even more fun for individuals who enjoy its current offering. Its latest update, Master of Fate, is part of the elaborate post-launch roadmap by Hexworks, which makes general fixes and adds an all-new Roguelite element to the game.
Lords Of The Fallen Couldn’t Dethrone Elden Ring but Now Offers a Roguelite Mode for Free
Lords of the Fallen was a title that was highly anticipated. However, averaging a Metascore of 70 and a user score of 6.7, per Metacritic, the game couldn’t make it big. But the game’s latest update could switch things up for it.
The latest update released on April 24, 2024, titled Master of Fate, focuses on the game’s replayability and gives players much control, allowing them to play the game however they see fit. The update is aimed at veterans of the Soulslike genre and players who want to start another playthrough of the title.
The update adds an all-new modifier system that can customize one’s gameplay experience using seven different modifiers. However, the most pathbreaking modifiers for the game are randomized enemy spawns, randomized loot, and an Ironman mode, making the game a full-fledged roguelike. One can check out the trailer below:
Along with the all-new update, which added the new game mode for free, the game will also be on a 50% discount on the PlayStation Store from April 24 and the same discount for the game on Steam from April 29.
Lords of the Fallen’s Roguelite Mode Could Be the Revival It Needs
The title was released in October 2023 and only clocks about 400 concurrent players in January 2024. The fact that Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree is also coming soon, the numbers were also expected to see another decline simply because of the latter’s popularity.
Adding massive modifiers to transition the game into a Roguelite is one of the most influential New Game+ ideas a studio can implement. Also, fans who enjoyed the title’s combat but not necessarily its narrative or story-telling can also enjoy it without having to experience the story.
All in all, a passionate attempt at making a Soulslike like and then adding the spice of a Roguelite to it for free is almost bound to cause a jump in concurrent players. Also, the upcoming sale might be the best time to grab the title.
