With the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion only a few months away, it might be time to jump back into the game and refresh your skills or try out a new build. If you’re looking for one that can decimate most foes with poise damage, maybe the Supreme Samurai should be your blueprint.

Elden Ring’s Supreme Samurai Build Relies Heavily on Dexterity

This Elden Ring build will allow you to slice through enemies with ease.
This Elden Ring build will allow you to slice through enemies with ease.

This build, as with so many others, comes from Fextralife. This build is suitable for aggressive and cautious players alike. Another great thing about this build is that it is an all-game build and can also be used for NG+.

You can start with any class for this build, though ones with higher vigor, endurance, and dexterity would be ideal. The main weapon is going to be the famous Nagakiba. Its R1 combo, along with the Unsheathe Ash of War, are going to be your primary damage dealers. There’s no need to worry about spells and staffs in this Elden Ring build, but you can craft and apply a variety of greases to the Nagakiba for an edge in battle.

As for the stats, here’s what you should be aiming for:

  • Vigor: 50
  • Mind: 25
  • Endurance: 38
  • Strength: 18
  • Dexterity: 80

Being a pure melee build, you don’t need to invest points into Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane. 25 points in Mind will allow you to use your Ash of War repeatedly. You’ll also be able to balance your flask setup for FP and HP.

Talisman’s and Armor Will Help Compliment Your Build and Play Style

Stance breaks are the go-to strategy with this build.
Stance breaks are the go-to strategy with this build.

To get the proper Samurai look, you can go for the Iron Kasa, White Reed Gauntlets, Ronin’s Greaves, and Nox Swordstress Armor. Feel free to mix and match armor sets to suit your tastes, but try not to go too heavy, as you’ll be rolling around a lot.

For Talisman’s Fextralife suggests Shard of Alexander to buff the damage of your Unsheathe ability; The Dragoncrest Greatshield to reduce incoming damage; Great Jars Arsenal for a higher equip load to reduce chances of fat rolling; and Bull-Goats Talisman for greater poise so you are not staggered when lining up an Unsheathe.

This build is going to work primarily on breaking the stance of your opponent with your Ash of War. The R2 variant of Unsheathe can deal some significant poise damage, opening the enemy up for critical hits. Adding the Assassin’s Cerulean Dagger to your Talisman mix can also help recoup some of the FP expended for the Ash of War with every critical hit.
