Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are teaming up for the big screen to star in, perhaps, one of the most baffling cinematic experiences from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, i.e. Deadpool & Wolverine. And yet, as savage and rugged as they look onscreen while on their way to defeat their common enemy, all of their brutality pretty much washed out while doing the Hot Ones challenge.

While they appeared to answer some previously unanswered questions about the movie, the events that unfolded were nothing short of terrifying. This is because, by the end of the challenge, Jackman was pretty much crying a lot more than he did while shooting his iconic Les Misérables. If anything, this duo’s reaction has us seriously wondering: How did Elizabeth Olsen do it so easily?!

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds Brutally Struggled with the Hot Ones Challenge

The Hot Ones challenge is super famous for leaving a lot of stars on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and Jackman and Reynolds were no exception either. On their way to the top of the “Hot Ones Mountain” to promote their upcoming Marvel cinematic masterpiece Deadpool & Wolverine, the pair struggled down to the core but didn’t stop midway.

However, their struggle was even more excruciating than perhaps all the barbaric turn of events both of their respective Marvel characters have been through. Here’s a brief breakdown of their reaction to every stage of the challenge where the hot wings they had to taste while answering questions grew in their respective Scoville level with each passing stage (via First We Feast on YouTube):

First off was The Classic Hot Sauce, Garlic Fresno, with a heat level of 2/10 and Scoville level of 1,700. This was just off to a slow start and earned a “Actually, that’s not bad. Yeah, we’re good,” from Ryan Reynolds while the Reel Steel star stuck with “This is okay. I’m doing alright” as the duo ate and went on to answer the question.

Then came the Seeing Double hot sauce, which had a considerably elevated Scoville level of 6,200. This one had Hugh Jackman going “I’m just going off-script” while Reynolds reminded him to “Keep up with the Australia charade.”

The next one in line was the Fermented Kimchi hot sauce with a Scoville level of 18,000, which initially had the Logan star saying “I like Kimchi” but after one bite, had him more conscious of his surroundings than ever before. Reynolds, in the meanwhile, went, “So far, we’re okay” while seriously concealing if he was even feeling anything.

After this came the Hot Ones Barbacoa Los Calientes, with a heat level of 4/10 and Scoville level of 33,000. This one had the Free Guy star promoting the sauce for being “one of the best hot sauces,” but honestly, the duo was more or less struggling at this point and were talking just to escape the fact that the spice was really building up.

Next came up Fat Cat’s Chairman Meow’s Revenge Scorpion Pepper hot sauce, and the Scoville level of this one was around 54,000. Just having one bite of this had Jackman realizing that it was “a step up” and “going for the milk already.” On the other hand, Reynolds was considerably calmer and really, really holding the spice in.

The sixth one was Onima, having a Scoville level of 71,000, which had the Greatest Showman immediately saying, “It tastes angry.” By this time, both agreed that the “walls are starting to close in” and that it was “very intense” and, besides having his eyes clearly stinging with tears, Jackman was really trying to hold back his laugh at the “heat of the moment” as he gulped down milk.

Then came the serious trouble: Red Flag Hot Sauce, Black Eyed Susan. This had a Scoville level of 126,000, and Reynolds and Jackman were both pretty much really struggling to hold their tears in at this point. While the IF star pointed out how it “hits all the glands,” the X-Men actor showed off that he was actually sweating at this point. (Hot enough?)

On number eight was DA BOMB, Beyond Insanity (quite literally), which had a Scoville level of 135,600. By this time, Reynolds wasn’t sure, for the first time in his life, “if I’m peeing.” This immediately had both of them seemingly on the verge of their tolerance with their eyes filled with tears and both actually struggling to even speak. In fact, even after having ice cream on this level, Jackman was screaming into his towel out of the heat.

But the Peppers Up hot sauce, which came next with a Scoville level of 700,000, was the real deal (not that the others weren’t, this just further elevated the spice game). This one had Jackman questioning if there was a God in the barrel and Reynolds spilling the random confession “Oh my god, I cheated at Wordle. I don’t know why I just said that.”

Last off was The Last Dab Xperience with a Scoville level of 2,693,000, and even with just a dab of it, the pair was already crying and probably trying their best to not throw up or pass out from the heat while trying to answer the questions. Hilariously enough, Jackman started dancing at this level just to distract himself from the spice.

To put it in a nutshell, this episode pretty much challenged the pain tolerance level of both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, and although they commendably survived the entire game down to the last minute (albeit with ice cream and milk coming to their rescue), it wasn’t without them seriously struggling and struggling even more to conceal their true feelings and reactions.

But while this pair, quite literally, went through a lot, on the other hand, one of the co-stars from the MCU, Elizabeth Olsen made her way through this challenge like it was a piece of cake for her.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olsen Had the Most Easy-Peasy Reaction to This Challenge

While the Deadpool & Wolverine co-stars struggled for their lives with the Hot Ones challenge, Elizabeth Olsen looked like she “could do this all day.” If anything, she only proved she has a really, really, really high spice tolerance as she tasted all ten of the spiciest chicken wings on this planet without even so much as screaming out loud about it.

As seen in the clip shared by @FirstWeFeast on YouTube, the first wing had her saying, “They’re pretty good,” while the second wing earned a straight-faced “okay” from her. By the third wing, she claimed her heart had started to race, but showed pretty much no signs of physical struggle.

Then came the fourth wing, which had her saying, “It has like a sweetness to it… smokey and sweetness.” (OKAY, WHAT?! Because that was definitely NOT how Reynolds and Jackman reacted.) If that wasn’t enough, even with the sixth and seventh wing, Olsen showed no signs of any sort of intolerance to the spice. If anything, it almost felt like she just couldn’t feel the heat at all.

By the eighth wing, she started looking considerably taken aback by the spice as she finally displayed that it was, indeed, hot enough to burn her tongue. But surprisingly enough, even as, by the ninth and tenth wing, her eyes seemingly started watering, Olsen was still in a much, much better condition than Jackman and Reynolds.

All of this being said, we guess we finally have the final answer of who’s the toughest between Scarlet Witch, Deadpool, and Wolverine, and it’s not Deadpool & Wolverine.
