It feels natural for actors to get tired or bored of playing the same character repeatedly. But with such a versatile and challenging character like Wanda, it tends to become even more tiring. And so did Elizabeth Olsen feel after having portrayed the character for so long.

Elizabeth Olsen‘s Wanda first appeared in the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier and since then it has been one ‘hell’ of a ride for the actress. Over the next years, she spent the majority of her time being on sets, laboriously shooting. As she said once in an interview, nearly a decade of her playing the popular Marvel character had her lost on multiple roles and equally good opportunities.

The Love and Death actress recently appeared in Variety’s Actors on Actors where she described how it was filming for Marvel,

“I was like doing Marvel for two years straight. Like literally with a two-day break and a quarantine for one….. I wrapped WandaVision on like a Wednesday and flew to England on a Friday.”

Adding on how she was not at all feeling alright after having spent two years of her life engrossed in the character without a break. And hence she says she never misses playing Wanda.

“Its been 10 years of playing her and I’ve loved it…..And if someone were to tell me that I am fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made.”

And so does the Marvel actress acknowledges that playing her again isn’t her choice as of now since she wants to explore other opportunities and roles.

Well, this wasn’t the first time Elizabeth Olsen expressed she dislikes playing Wanda. It is not that she feels regretful or tired of the character, but is more concerned about how things work behind the screen. Studios like Marvel usually have long-drawn contracts that limit the actor’s ability to pursue other roles, and this has been one bitter pill to swallow for Olsen. She once said,

“I was in a contract I could not get out of. So that didn’t work out. I started to feel frustrated. I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more part of my being. And the further I got away from that, the less I became considered for it.”

Furthermore, the actress had a hard time playing the character in WandaVision and Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness since the two had similar storylines.

While we don’t know when she would be returning back or if she would even be back, one thing is sure Elizabeth Olsen has an incredible amount of perseverance to have played a character like Wanda for over a decade.
